Or could it be my heart? With my face buried in the crook of Griffin's neck, I mentally conceded that it might be a little of both. I was very aware of the fact that I barely knew him, but somehow being with him felt… different.

Maybe even right?

It was also possible that my post-orgasm brain was the one doing the thinking. Closing my eyes, I snuggled deeper into him when the sound of my rumbling tummy ruined the moment. I felt myself blush all the way to my toes. Squeezing my lids tighter, I begged the ground to open up and swallow me in.

No such luck.

Griffin pushed a hand into my hair, urging me to lift my head and look at him. When I did, the grin on his lips had my heart doing cartwheels."We never did have that snack, did we?"

I lifted my shoulder into a shrug."Well, you did."

Those eyes of his turned even darker as his gaze dropped to my chest before returning to mine."Aye, I did. Somehow, I'm ravenous again."

The intensity in his irises stole my breath. Not once in all my life had a man looked at me the way Griffin was looking at me. The way it made me feel, scared me. I could hear my heart thundering away as his mouth came closer and closer.

As much as I wanted that kiss, I didn't dare take it. I needed to sort through whatever it was that was going on inside of me. Because it definitely wasn't normal to feel this way about someone after only knowing them for a few days.

Ducking what I knew would've been a delicious kiss, I slipped off his lap and started gathering my clothes. Brows pulled into a deep frown; his gaze remained on me as I haphazardly pulled on item after item.

It took a while, but he finally pushed to his feet too. Still staring at me with that confused look in his eyes, his mouth opened but instead of saying what he wanted to say, he snapped his lips shut and pulled on his sweats.

"Are you ready to have your taste buds assaulted in the best way?" I hoped my attempt at making light of the situation worked. But knew it hadn't when Griffin stalked toward me; movements sure and steady, his face serious.

I held my breath.

He was standing so close; I could simply reach out and touch him. I wanted that so badly I had to curl my hands into tight fists. Long agonizing seconds ticked by as he just stood there, his dark gaze boring into mine.

My heart stuttered while the butterflies in my stomach fluttered wildly.

Griffin moved fast; taking my face between his palms and lowering his head so he could look straight into my eyes. Into my soul."You feel it too, don't you?"

I had to swallow twice before I could squeak out,"What?"

He shook his dark head."No games. It's just you and me here, and I know you feel the pull between us. I saw it in your eyes right before I saw uncertainty seep in."

"This is crazy."

"Maybe."

I tried to pull away from him, but he wasn't having it."What we're feeling is lust."

"Say it again, acushla." His face inched even closer."With more conviction this time. Maybe you'll believe yourself." The pad of his thumb swept over my skin in a ghost of a touch."And it was only lust that made you come here in the middle of the night? All that talk earlier about feeling connected was total bullshit then?"

This man saw right through any wall I tried to erect."Griffin," I pleaded."It can't be anything more than that. We hardly know each other."

His eyes searched mine for a few seconds before he said,"Let's rectify that. You can ask me anything and I swear to answer it honestly."

Was this guy for real? I was used to men who'd rather endure a root canal than sit and talk. That old proverb popped into my head:When something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Right now, Griffin seemed to be just that.

Warning bells should've rung.

Either I was hearing impaired or there really weren't any. Could it be? Was it even possible to fall for someone within seconds of meeting them?

"You're overthinking." Griffin's voice drew my attention back to him. He wasn't wrong. I just didn't want to fall for another Rob."I tell you what," he went on."Let's get you something to eat before we continue this conversation."

My gaze roamed over his face, a million things fighting to be heard and said at once. But somehow the only one that came tumbling out of my mouth was,"Okay."

His hands smoothed down my arms until he could lace our fingers. Silently we made our way to the kitchen only to find that the ice cream had melted."Guess you won't be trying a vodka float after all."
