He nodded as he looked down at me with his soft, brown eyes. “However, only for an hour per day. Your destiny must always take precedence. Do you understand, Theodosius?”
I nodded. “Yes, Father. I’m special.”
He embraced me, making me feel like the words I had just spoken. “Indeed, my child, you are special.”
I pulled away a little and looked up at him. “Will they ever let me play with them?”
He nodded. “They will, just give them time.”
“I will, Father,” I said, then I hugged him again.
Even though he had told me I was special, and I decided I wanted the destiny that was set out for me… I still wanted toys of my own.
