“A Prince and a Knight, but not a god,” Tylendel replied as he stroked my face. “I wish to see you again.”

My smile widened. “I want to see you again as well. When?” A part of me wanted to stay even though I knew I had to return to Ara.

“When you are free to make the journey or I am. Let us not let another century keep us apart,” he said.

“I will not,” I promised. No way did I ever want to be away from him that long again. My only fear left was Ara’s jealousy. How would he react to me after knowing how much I enjoyed myself with Tylendel? Would he allow me to see him again? All questions I would find out later.

“It’s time for you to return to your Father. Do you feel stronger?”

I hadn’t even paid attention to how I felt physically until he mentioned it. As I took an account of my own well-being, I had to admit, I did feel stronger, more invincible, really. I looked at Tylendel and nodded. “I do.”

“Only sex with a dragon Knight or the King can increase your strength like that. Fucking a soldier dragon will make you stronger, but not on the level a Knight or King can. Remember that.”

I nodded. “Yes, Sir.”

“Call me Tylendel. It is a privilege I do not afford to many, so consider yourself special,” he said, and I did.

“Thank you, Tylendel.” I felt almost odd calling him by his first name, but I was going to do as he said. Besides, it made me feel closer to him. “Do you have a surname?”

He chuckled. “Dragons all take the names of their fathers as their surname. Mine is Tylendel Evion Telias.”

“Evion?”

“It is Dragonian, it means ‘son of’. For female dragons, it is Avion, ‘daughter of’ whomever their fathers are. All female dragons know when a male dragons’ seed had taken root in their wombs. Although, it may take several matings for it to happen.”

“Dragonian?”

He sighed. “I see I must teach you the language of your people. Dragonian is spoken by all dragons. I will have you learn it. If we knew who your father was, you would have been named Theodosius Evion… well, you understand.”

I thought about what he was saying. I never knew either one of my parents, and I was long past the age of where that mattered to me. I did take one thing from my mother, though.

“I took my mother’s birth name as my surname and I have long casted off the name the church gave me. I am proud to be called Théoden Sura. She did not give me anything in life, but by taking her name, it is the one thing she cannot deny me,” I said.

Tylendel leaned over and kissed my forehead. “It is a strong name worthy of one such as yourself.”

“Thank you, Tylendel.”

“Can I ask you something else?”

“You may.”

“Were the dragons of old as strong as you are now?”

“Unfortunately, they were not, which is why they are extinct. They were not as large as a King dragon is now, nor as powerful. From what I was told, they looked to be the size of a horse. Over the eons, we have evolved as a species. For one thing, it is not as easy for a dragon to mate with a human and bore a child as it had been before. Nor is it as easy for a dragon to mate with another dragon and procreate. With great power, came great sacrifice,” Tylendel said, and I understood completely.

“One more thing, and I hope this question does not upset you,” I began.

Tylendel arched one of his perfect eyebrows. “Oh? Well, do not leave me in such suspense.”

“What was your Rite of Passage like?”

Tylendel laughed and laid back on the bed. “Oh my, that is a question I am often asked by young dragons.” He sighed. “I was twenty-four when it happened for me. My first erection. Male dragons can experience it at any age between sixteen and thirty. Once it happens, it does not go away. I am sure you can imagine the frustration one feels at that point?”

I nodded. “I can. I hate to have a hardness for any length of time.”

Tylendel chuckled. “My mother, Queen Astria-Helena, was informed of my change and I was sent to a Knight. At the time, I was torn. A part of me was ready to assume my duties as a dragon. But the other part of me did not want to leave my friends who had not yet reached their maturity, or my mother, who doted on me. I was her only child.”

“If that is so, where did the other dragon females come from?”
