“It was either that, or death. That was the offer they made me,” Zach said. He walked over to the bag and reached inside to pull out the sanitary wipes. “I’ll be back,” he said, then walked away. When he returned, the smell of shit was gone, thank goodness. He’d also used some to clean the musk away from his underarms and whatever blood was on his flesh.

“We need to feed tonight. My charges are coming to get us and bring us humans,” I said. I was starting to feel a little stronger and I knew it was my wolf half trying to heal itself. I also noticed that Zach wasn’t a wolf, the scent wasn’t in him like it was me. But there was something there. I watched as he began to get dressed. I heard footsteps approaching, then scented who it was. Humans and my underlings. Lee and Omari served me, another gift from Dante. I realized that now.

“I see you’re in a state, Sir,” Lee said, smirking as he dragged a male closer to me. He forced the human to his knees and I wasted no time feeding.

“Stop gawking and feed too,” Omari told Zach, and gestured toward the human female he held in his grip for Zach’s first kill.

“I… I’m not hungry,” Zach said as he backed away.

Neither Lee nor Omari said anything else and I knew why. Zach was my responsibility. I killed the human I fed from and allowed myself to bask in the bloodhaze for just a minute. Then I looked at Zach to see him standing awkwardly between the two more powerful supes. He was looking at me, eyes wide and mouth open as if he was in shock. I rose and pulled the clothes from the bag that were my size and began to dress. Jeans, t-shirt, socks, boxers, and shoes. Simple, comfortable, and expensive.

“I can’t believe you killed him,” Zach said.

I scoffed and looked at Zach. I needed to take a certain approach with him. He needed to see me as his Sire and not his friend. The same way Dante had done with me. “Take her, now.”

Zach shook his head. “But Dominic, I’m not—”

I advanced quickly, cutting him off by gripping his chin and applying enough pressure to cause him pain, but not enough to crush his jaw. “First lesson you need to learn is to do as I say. It could be a matter of life or death and I don’t have time to argue with you. You know you’re going to have to feed from humans. Just do it!” I snapped and shoved him toward the human Omari was still holding.

The human was crying and shaking her head, begging for mercy, but that was something that was in short supply in our world. Another lesson I had to learn the hard way. I didn’t want Zach to have to go through the shit I had gone through. I saw Omari give me an approving nod, then he cut the human’s throat, letting the flow of blood entice Zach.

My son… wow, it really happened. His blue eyes zeroed in on the ruby red flowing from the wound and his chest began to heave as he leaned in. I walked up behind him and grabbed the back of his head and shoved his face forward into the blood. “Feed!”

I needed to get to Delilah and we still had an hour’s drive to get to Dante’s home. I didn’t want them to start torturing her again. If my bite could give her a pleasurable death, that was the least I could do for her. Zach’s nature took over and he was drinking from the human, moaning slightly as he did.

“You two got here fast,” I pointed out as Lee grabbed the bag of clothes.

“We were in the neighborhood, Sir,” Lee said, smiling.

“Did you follow me?” I asked.

Omari shook his head. “We got a text for our General where to find you. By the time we got your call, we were only a few blocks away, Sir.”

Well, that solves that mystery. Once Zach was done, his human dead, because he didn’t know how not to kill yet, I dragged him off, even though he was still swooning.

“I need you to speed to Dante’s,” I told Omari, who was the better driver between him and Lee.

“Yes, Sir,” Omari said.

We were in the car in a few minutes and heading toward my Father’s and Alphas’ home. This was how I needed to acknowledge them. Dante and Josef. Zach was quiet in the car, which I was grateful for. I wasn’t in the mood to talk, not to anyone. And he was also in a mental state, feeling guilt over killing the woman. I really didn’t want to have to deal with that, not yet, at least.

“How much longer?” I asked Omari.

“Another twenty minutes, Sir,” Omari replied.

“What time is it?”

Lee replied and I hissed. “Pull over, I can get there faster if I run,” I said.

Omari did as I commanded and I opened the door and took off. What would have taken us twenty minutes in a car took me less than five on foot. I put my vamp and wolf speed to good use, but I was still late. By the time I made it to the cell where Delilah was being held, I could smell her blood and hear her screams.

“Stop it!” I snapped at the three wolves and two vampires, all male, who were terrorizing her. One of the wolves snarled at me, his cock hard and ready to take advantage of Delilah.

“We were given orders by the Alpha to do this bitch in. You want us to stop, the order has to come from them… Sir,” he added as if it were an afterthought.

I stepped up to the bars. “You put one more hand on her and I will make you pay,” I warned and added a growl for emphasis.

The wolf snarled at me, baring his canines, and he may have been older than I was, but I would still take him on, win or lose. “Bring it,” I snapped.
