I nodded. “This building is home to five restaurants that offer an array of cuisines. Remember, the first four floors are all businesses. There’s even a theater for movies and performances. Members of my pride and my highest paying tenants have access to the perks of room service delivery. So, whenever you want something to eat, just check out their menus. They bring your order right to the door.”

“But what about the security? Are they allowed on this floor?”

“No, but one of my pride or soldiers will bring it. They take it as far as that checkpoint and my people will bring it to the door.”

“Oh, I’m going to get so spoiled.” He laughed.

“I hope you do.”

He kissed me and I loved the feel of his lips against mine. “And I suppose, I’ll let Xavier’s broke ass enjoy the perks too.”

Adrian laughed, but also slapped my pec. “Snob.”

“A status I’ve earned,” I said. Hey, I worked hard for my money. At least now, I had someone to share it with.

“I bet. Don’t worry. I don’t want to know everything about what you do. I think it’s best that way. Speaking of… what’s the plan for today dealing with that mage?” Adrian asked.

“Eat first,” I said. I rolled over to my nightstand and pulled the menu book from the drawer and handed it over to Adrian. “So, what shall we dine on?”

“I want a good ol’ southern style breakfast.”

“Hmmm, sounds delicious. We’ll have that.”

After a very bountiful breakfast of steak, eggs, and pancakes for me with a side of grits, and Adrian ordering a western omelet and waffles with strawberry topping and cheesy grits, we were both feeling pretty energized, but it could also be attributed to the fact that we fucked again in the shower. I loved having him against the wall, his legs around my waist while I brought us both to the pinnacle of ecstasy for a third time. This was the life I’d longed for.

I was sitting at the dinning room table looking through the grimoire. Adrian came and sat down in the chair next to mine. “So, how are we going to go about dealing with our mage problem?” he asked once more.

I looked up at him and cocked an eyebrow. “Don’t you have to go to the precinct and give your statement this morning?” I asked.

He nodded. “I will, but I want to take care of this first.”

I nodded, then pointed to a spell. “Can you see this spell? What is the title?”

Adrian looked at the page. “Renderi magik minusitti castasche,” he said, then looked up at me. “Remove the magic of a mage?”

I nodded. “I thought about it at first, but that would still leave them alive to be threats. So, I was thinking about using this one. Can you see it?”

He looked again. “To link a spell to a line of magic?”

I nodded. “I’ll need you for this, but the spell that I will be linking will be a curse. You can’t see this one, can you?” I asked, flipping a few pages into the grimoire to the spell I wanted to use.

“If it’s about a curse, I just see a spell for healing. So, I guess not,” Adrian said.

The curse I read would kill anyone I put it on. I wanted to link it to the mages of that magical line, killing them all. I could tell by Adrian’s sudden mood change that he didn’t approve, but he also understood it was necessary. These mages had been killing off our families and line for centuries. They had to go. Besides, doing it this way was less troublesome and would avoid a war of epic proportions. I would prefer all of the casualties from now on be on their side.

“I’ll just need you for the first part and I can take it from there,” I said.

“When do we do this?”

“Now. They will not stop trying to take us out,” I said, then rose from the table. “I sent Nadia to that magic store you went to. Needed some items and to take care of the owner.”

Adrian rose from his seat. “Take care of? Did you…?”

I nodded. “She was human with some leaning toward magic. If she were any stronger, she would have been a mage herself. In any case, she is the one who tipped them off, so she had to go. Once she sensed your magic had grown, she betrayed you.”

“She… she had grandchildren, Sage,” Adrian said, frowning.
