“Go fuck… yourself,” I snarled. How dare this motherfucker think he could control me.
Salino chuckled. “See, disrespectful shit like that will not be allowed. I will see you tomorrow, do not disappoint me. You don’t want to know what I’ll do if one of my children is foolish enough to disobey me.” With that, Salino adjusted his suit and walked out of the bedroom with a grace only a master vampire could possess. I really fucking hated those arrogant bastards. Once the doors were closed, whatever hold he had over me seemed to vanish as I shot up from the bed, my legs finally working.
“Holy shit!” I gasped.
Shi ran over to me. “Are you okay now?” she asked.
I shook each leg and limb, rolling my shoulders and neck. “Yeah, I’m good.”
“That fucking vampire… I’m sorry that we got him involved,” Shi said.
“Was there any other way?” I asked her.
She looked at Adrian. “According to him, no.”
I looked at Adrian, who looked away as if ashamed. “If Adrian said this was the only way, then you don’t have anything to apologize for.”
Adrian’s gaze shot back to me and he looked shocked by my response. “You’re not pissed?”
“Oh, I’m pissed off, but not at you. You did what you had to do to save my life. I’m alive now, able to be pissed off at Salino because of your quick thinking,” I said, then I took him by the back of his neck and kissed him. It was something I’d been dying to do since I’d first laid my eyes on him this night. To take him, to make him mine in every way. His lips were soft and yielding as I pressed my tongue between them, sliding it along his.
Shi coughed and I looked at her out of the corner of my eyes, but didn’t break my kiss.
“What are we going to do about Salino? Because this one made some pretty big promises I don’t think you’re going to like,” she said, gesturing to Adrian.
Okay, now I broke the kiss. “Listen, Shi… I need some alone time with Adrian right now.”
She looked at Adrian, then back to me. “Are you sure you’re feeling… all right?”
I nodded. “Better than all right. But like you said, I need to know all of the details that led up to this night. And Adrian and I need to discuss it in private. I’ll talk to you and the rest of the pride later, maybe even tomorrow morning.”
She nodded, then turned, walking out of my bedroom with the door closing behind her. I looked at Adrian. “My mind is still blown. I’m trying to digest everything you told me.”
I sat back down on the bed and leaned back, just breathing slowly to calm my nerves.
Adrian sat down next to me. “I’m sorry, Sage. I really didn’t see this coming.”
“How could you have? It’s not like you’ve done this sort of shit before,” I said, opening my eyes and looking at him.
“I was scared you were going to be mad at me because of the deals I had to make,” he said.
“Okay, tell me about these deals. What did that rat bastard squeeze out of you?” I asked.
That nervousness was settling in on Adrian again and I reached out, taking his hand into my own. “Don’t worry, like I said… I’m not mad at you.”
He scoffed. “Are you sure you aren’t just saying that because you want to fuck me?” After the words left his mouth, his cheeks actually reddened as if he was surprised by his own response.
I laughed. “Well, that was saucy. Sexy. Makes mydickhard when you talk like that.”
He blushed more and turned away. “Sage… god… you’re ridiculous. This is serious.”
“Let me guess, he wants us to do him a favor with our magic?” I asked, trying to take my best assumption regarding Salino’s motivations.
Adrian shrugged. “Pretty much. For one, he doesn’t want us to use our magic against him in any way or his vampires. Only for him.”
“Shit, after what he did to me tonight, I doubt I’d be able to use my magic to hurt the bastard,” I said, remembering his hold on me.
“You could if you got the jump on him like I did earlier,” Adrian said.
