“Fucking hell,” TT groused. Just thinking about the damn DEA made his blood boil and for more than one reason. “Please tell me you’re being careful. Make sure no one is following you.”
Ajay nodded. “Don’t worry. I’m watching my ass out there.”
“Good, you better.” TT looked at Ajay again, marveling at how beautiful his lover was. “How was your introduction to the club?”
“Ugh,” Ajay huffed and TT laughed because he could imagine. “It was rough. Dasan... man... I can see why he’s the president. The man is no joke.”
“Nope, not even a little bit,” TT agreed.
“Maverick and Ace didn’t take it easy on me either. Basically, I got my ass handed to me, but afterward, I think I earned their respect,” Ajay said.
TT nodded. “Yeah, you did. I knew you would.” He shook his head again. “God, it’s really bothering me that I can’t be by your side and the club’s.”
“You know about Melissa, right?” Ajay asked.
TT nodded. “Yeah, Maverick’s got the kids now. And I heard about Richie’s new... shall we say.... herbal remedy.”
Ajay chuckled, thinking back to the moment a naked Richie was dancing on the pool table. “Yeah, it’s on hold for the time being until... well, you know.”
TT nodded, not needing any further explanation. “I don’t like being left out, not when y’all need me. When I tell Dragon, he’s going to be even more pissed.”
“Me too, baby, but just focus on getting out of here on time. I’ll be visiting you every week, okay? I already have it scheduled,” Ajay said.
“Don’t do that yet. The last thing we need is those fuckers seeing a pattern knowing you’re coming out here to see me. I want you safe, so come only when you can,” TT said.
As much as Ajay wanted to balk at that, he knew his man was right. “If that’s what you want.”
“I want you safe.”
Ajay sighed as he relented. “I’ll come when I can, then.”
TT nodded, satisfied with that, then asked more questions about his family and club. Ajay was able to give him the lighter updates that had happened, keeping him informed on all things.
“Time,” called out a CO.
“Shit, that just wasn’t enough,” Ajay fussed.
“Yeah, I know,” TT said, then rose to hug his boyfriend.
Ajay held him tightly before he had to let go. They kissed again, then said their goodbyes.
Ajay had to fight the tears that threatened to stream down his cheeks as he looked at the prison. It took everything he had to walk out of the place and leave TT in there. No matter what, he was determined to survive this war because he had someone and something to fight for. He started the engine of his motorcycle and headed back to the clubhouse where he was living. He’d left the house to his husband, one less thing for them to bicker over. And soon, Kevin would be in his past for good.
Chapter nineteen
Chen
Chen heard the rumbleof motorcycles before he saw them coming down the street. His targets. The president of the New York Lords of Chaos chapter along with two more men. He’d been scoping out the Lords of Chaos clubhouse for the past five hours waiting for the man to show up. The nighttime sky was clear and the weather was beautiful and it was almost a shame he couldn’t be out enjoying himself. Instead, he was stuck on a rooftop two hundred and fifty meters away from the clubhouse. Five days ago, Da Han initiated his attacks, eliminating several members of the Castiello family and Lords of Chaos MC in one day. It took their enemy by surprise, because they hadn’t been prepared for the two other families in New York to join the attacks.
Rico and the Lords were now fighting two factions of enemies because the Torelli, Demarcos, and Vanelis families weren’t relenting in their attacks. And the two families now siding with the triad seemed to have taken on the mindset of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. If things continued this way, Chen didn’t see this war between them going on much longer.
Chen aimed the site of his sniper rifle toward the front door of the clubhouse and saw when the three motorcycles backed into their spots to park. He calmed his breathing and steadied his focus, putting the bullseye on the very patch of the Lords’ president. As soon as the wind was in his favor and he had a clear shot... he fired. His target, Alonzo “Al” Jeffries, went down, slumping over his bike. The other two men went to his aid and Chen took two more shots, the head of one of the men jerked back as a bullet pierced his skull. The second biker, the Lords’ SA, Pierre “Pepe” Lanier, fell backward on his bike, sending it falling over.
Not wanting to stick around any longer to avoid retaliation, Chen quickly dismantled his gun and then packed it up. He raced down the stairs and into his waiting black Dodge Charger and hit the gas. He contacted his boss.
Da Han answered. “Update.”
“It’s done.”
