“Okay. Now, when I remove this ball gag, don’t scream. That would really piss me off and I might have to cut something off if you do.Nod if you understand.”

She nodded vigorously.

“Good.”I removed the ball gag because I needed her to be able to talk if I wanted to get information from her.I wished I had mind control or at least mind reading abilities.Having those would make interrogating people that much easier.“What can you tell me about the site, The Killing Game?”

She frowned.“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

I sighed, then reached into my purse, removing the truth serum.“Do you know what this is?”

She shook her head.

“It’s sodium pentothal, you may know it best as truth serum.”

She shook her head wildly.“Please don’t!”

“I’m afraid that I must, because you started off with a lie.I can see it in your eyes that you know exactly what the fuck I’m talking about.Trust me, I’m doing you a favor by using the serum. The last motherfucker I questioned about The Killing Game site who lied to me lost some body parts and his life.”

“Please don’t kill me… I swear, I don’t really know anything,” she pleaded, desperation showing in her eyes.I swear, some women just had a way of looking more vulnerable than men.

“You may not be a member, but I see that you’re not innocent,” I pointed out.I grabbed her slender arm, squeezing it hard enough to bring up a vain.

She whimpered from the pain.“Please don’t.If I tell you what I know, they’ll kill me.”

“Who?”

“Can you protect me?”

Well, it seemed that I didn’t need the serum in the first place if she was willing to talk.I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.I knew from Jordan’s extensive research that she wasn’t a member. She just worked for the mayor who was.Maybe she felt helpless and just kept her head down and did her damn job.I pulled the syringe away and released her arm.

“Watch out for her, Eric,” Jordan’s voice came over my com, cautioning me.I didn’t bother responding to him, but took heed.

“You don’t need to be worried about those other guys killing you. You’re in a room all alone with me, I’m who you need to be concerned about,” I warned her.

“I don’t even know who you are,” she shot back, like that was some smart shit to say.

“Bitch, I’m the motherfucker with special abilities, one being the skill to take whatever form I want.I also don’t have a problem with ending a cunt’s life, so you better start talking,” I snapped.

“You’re a fool if you don’t think they’ll find you.”

“Who’s ‘they’?”I asked again.

“How the fuck should I know? They keep themselves shrouded in mystery.I just know they are powerful and untouchable,” she said.

“I’m touching them just fine.Walter Darring is dead as fuck, trust me.”

With the mention of his name, I saw her eyes widen in shock.Walter’s disappearance had been all over the television. So, it was no surprise that she’d known of him.Hell, Walter’s sister even put out a fifty thousand dollar reward to anyone with information that would lead to his whereabouts.I was tempted to call for the reward money, but decided not to get too involved.

“You killed him?”she asked, and the expression on her face told me she knew a little bit more about Walter than the average news-watching citizen.

I snorted.“As I’ve been saying this whole time, what part of, ‘I will kill you if you piss me off,’ don’t you understand?”I asked.“I don’t give a shit about how big or small your bank account is, or who you are.”

“I only delivered the money!”she exclaimed.I could tell she was terrified. Her body was slick with sweat and the look in her eyes showed just how much she wanted to survive this encounter.

“Who did you deliver the money to and what was the money for?”

“I was just told to leave the money in a designated spot.I don’t know who picked it up or what it’s for,” she said, telling what I believed was a lie.

“That bitch is lying,” Jordan said through my com, and I agreed.
