But I’m lost in my head again.
Smooth sailing?
Things feel anythingbutsmooth right now.
If things were smooth, I wouldn’t be dreaming about the day I could fuck a baby into her.
I wouldn’t be looking forward to spending all of my time with her.
I wouldn’t have asked her tostay.
And she hasn’t slept in her bed since. Lucia sleeps beside me every night now, and it’s the best sleep I’ve ever had.
So no, it’s not smooth sailing.
If anything, these are the roughest waters I’ve ever had to tread.
“Come in,” I hear Lucia say from the other side of her office door.
We’ve finished with practice, and I’m dressed for the game now. Figured I’d find a few minutes to sneak away before I had to head to the field.
“Hey, Spitfire,” I smile, closing the door behind me. When I look at her, I groan loudly. “Whose jersey are you wearing this time?”
She smirks at me. “It’s Cole’s jersey today.”
“You’re a goddamn menace,” I rasp, making a beeline right toward her.
Lucia slides up on her desk, and I come to stand between her legs.
“I love riling you up.”
I tightly grip her hips, pulling a gasp out of her. “Believe me, sweetheart, I know.”
“What are you doing here?” she asks, a small smile on her face.
“I have a little bit of time before the game. Thought I’d come to see how your day is going.”
Lucia lets out a sigh. “It’s fine.”
I look at her with concern. “Is everything okay? Did something happen with the Brooklyn College thing?”
“No, nothing like that,” she replies quickly. “That’s official now, actually. I’ll talk to the women in the exercise science program in a few weeks. Logan is just on my last damn nerve today.”
I roll my eyes. I fucking hate Logan Dawson. “What’s he doing?”
“Being more of a kiss-ass than usual,” she snarks. “Leaving the new guys on their own. Nothing I wouldn’t expect from him.”
“I’m sorry he sucks,” I say genuinely. “He can kiss all the ass he wants, though. It’ll never make him a better trainer than you.”
“Thanks, Ari.”
Lucia gazes at me sweetly, and I feel it in my chest.
She’s getting to me in ways no one else ever has.
And all I want to do right now is make her forget about her shitty coworker.
I walk across the room and draw the curtains closed, hiding us behind her glass walls. Then, I lock the door.
