Maybe this will work out after all.

“I’ll take a cupof that coffee.” I jump at the sound of Blair’s voice, spinning around in her spacious kitchen to find her still in her gown from last night.

“Did you sleep in that dress, or are you just getting home?” I set a steaming hot cup of black coffee on the table in front of her andtake a seat across from her, blowing on my doctored-up cream and sugar coffee.

“It’s a long story.” She exhales sharply. “I kind of slept with three guys last night. But enough about me, how was your night?” She lifts the mug to her lips and takes a sip, not even bothering to cool it down.

“Oh no, you don’t. We can talk about my date later. I want to hear about how youkind ofslept with three guys.”

She sets her mug back on the table. “I’m still processing it.” Her finger tracing the handle of the mug. “I’m not sure I’m ready to talk about it yet.”

The sadness in her eyes makes me hold back. She’ll tell me if and when she’s ready, but for now, I’ll share about my night to help take her mind off her night last night.

“I had a really good time last night. Felix and Ryker were sweet and funny.”

“Don’t forget they’re both sexy as hell.” We both laugh because she is not wrong.

My phone buzzes with an incoming text. It must be my schedule for the week.

I pick up my phone from the table and notice the call isn’t from my scheduler, it’s from Kai in our group text with Hudson.

Kai:I’m so sorry we hurt you. Can we talk?

Hudson:Please. It’s all my fault. Kai didn’t want to go through with it.

I slam my phone face-first onto the table, blocking out their apologies. Why now, when I’m just starting to turn my life around? They had six months to contact me.

“Are you okay?” Blair shifts her eyes to my phone. “Do I even dare ask who’s texting you?”

“It’s nothing.” I try to smile, but I’m so confused about why Kai and Hudson would be reaching out to me after all this time. I know I’m not fooling Blair—only myself. “Just a couple of old ghosts trying to haunt me.” I laugh it off, not ready to talk about their half-hearted apology.

“Alright then, back to your date.” Blair sips her coffee as I tell her everything that happened last night, even the part about them wanting to continue dating and sharing me.

“So, the plan is for us to go on dates and see if the three of us are compatible enough to sustain a relationship with both of them sharing me.”

“I can definitely say that sharing is amazing after last night.”

I can’t contain the snort that slips from my nose, “All three at the same time, uh?” I raise an eyebrow and blow on my already cooling coffee. “How was it?” I press my luck, dying to find out what happened last night and with who.

“It was so good, Ollie. You were right, all those hands and lips on my body at the same time, kissing, touching, licking. It was insane how good it felt to have all my holes filled at the same time.”

“Maybe I need to add a third guy so all my holes will be filled.”

It’s Blair’s turn to snort, “Yeah, it was fine for a one-and-done, but I don’t see a repeat of it in my future any time soon.”

“Oh, Blair, I’m sorry.” I don’t know what else to say. I hate that my baby sister is hurting.

“It’s okay, really. Give me twenty minutes, and I’ll be ready to head to the arena. You can help me in my office until it's time to get ready for the game. It'll help me take my mind off last night. Plus, you need to finish telling me about your decision—are you going to date Ryker and Felix?”

I glance at my turned-over phone, my heart beating a mile a minute. Last night I was ready to jump into a new relationship with Ryker and Felix, but now I'm not sure until I know what’s behind Hudson and Kai’s apology.

“Fine, but you need to give me a bit more detail about your night last night. At least tell me it was worth the pain you're feeling today.”

She doesn’t try to hide her pain. “Sure.” She offers a weak smile, then stands and leaves the room, leaving me alone with my phone that keeps vibrating with incoming text messages.
