“Nah, that muthafucka looks real.” He stood and started to pace anxiously, but the knocking on the door halted him.
Unique left the room to grab the aspirin before returning with the woman who’d brought it. She looked a bit startled.
“Unique, what?—”
“Aye, this shit look real to you or what?” He snatched the paper from me. “Shit, you live here, and I ain’t ever been married, so let a nigga know.” Unique was tall as hell and not skinny in the slightest, and I think, in the moment, he had forgotten how intimidating he could be physically.
The woman, hands shaking, took the paper to inspect it before nodding.
“Oh my gosh!” I covered my mouth in shock as Unique dismissed the hotel worker.
“Nah, it’s cool. All we gotta do is get an annulment and we good.” He nodded but looked worried still.
“Right. So we just contact a lawyer, explain what happened, and it should be done, right?”
“Pretty much.” He shrugged, and I realized then that this nigga didn’t know what the fuck he was talking about. He, himself said he’d never been married. “I’m gon’ contact a lawyer when I get back to LA so he can handle this shit ASAP.” He slipped his pants on, but a paper fell out of it.
Reaching down, he grabbed it and stared for a moment. Smirking with his fine ass, he tossed it into the middle of the bed for me to see.
Picking it up, I saw it was our wedding photo. One would think we were truly in love by how we looked into one another’s eyes. Had it not been me in this picture, I would’ve been fooled.
“So um, yeah, just let me know what he says,” I uttered lowly.
“Aight. I got you.” He hurriedly dressed as an awkward silence fell over us.
“Keep this a secret, Unique,” I stated after pulling my dress over my head. I could tell by the way he took me in that he was wondering as well if we’d had sex. “I haven’t even been broken up with AJ very long, and I don’t want to look loose or like I was fucking y’all at the same time.”
“I got you.” He nodded, tossing the aspirin into his mouth and gulping the water down. “Take some.” He handed me a fresh water bottle and packet of medicine as well.
After taking it and placing the cap back on the Ferrari branded water, I asked, “Do you think we had sex?”
“Can’t be sure, love. But what I can say is if I hit, you’d feel it still.” He looked me over seriously, so I knew he wasn’t joking. “Only other way to know is if you smell my dick.”
Rolling my eyes as he chuckled, I asked, “Nigga, why can’t you smell your own dick?”
“Muthafucka too long and I’m too tall. I can’t bend like that. I ain’t AJ’s muthafuckin’ ass.”
“AJ isn’t short.” I chuckled, taking down some more water.
“He shorter than me, and he look like the type of nigga to be able to bend so he could suck his own dick.”
“Unique, shut the hell up.” I giggled. When silence returned, us both perusing the room to be sure we didn’t leave anything behind or that there wasn’t any more evidence to this damn marriage, I finally said, “Please let me know as soon as you hear from the lawyer.”
“I will, love.” He nodded impatiently. “Stay here, though, ’cause I’m gon’ have ya shit brought from the room you had with AJ over here.” He picked up his iPhone, sending off a text. His shirt was open, and there I was again, salivating over his chest. “Need anything else? Ride to the airport or ride home?”
“A ride home? You think I’m gonna ride four hours with you?” I jested.
“I mean, you are a nigga’s wife. Least you can do since you ain’t give me none.” He lifted his brows as I tittered lightly. “But nah,” he fastened his expensive watch around his wrist, “my brother Asif let me use his jet, so if you needed a ride, I could literally give you one.”
I’d never been on a jet before, and I didn’t want to hit AJ up to inquire about my boarding pass, so I said, “I could do that.”
Unique nodded, made a few phone calls, and then decided to undress and use the shower plus complimentary toothbrushes. While I did the same, he went to grab my things from his assistant, who he said was in the lobby with my stuff.
I liked how in control he was and how smoothly he handled things for me. I didn’t know why, but I found that attractive. AJ would’ve been asking twenty-one questions and trying to get me to do or fix shit.
After I got dressed, he ordered a car to take us to the private airstrip.
The jet was beautiful. Even the air inside smelled expensive, so if I didn’t know his brother had money before, I did now.
