“Would you like me to thank you?” Her voice was husky, her hot breath teasing over his skin had his eyes rolling back into his head. He had to lean a hand against the wall of her cabin to keep himself upright as arousal tore through him.
“Should I thank you for protecting me?” Her voice had an edge to it that he couldn’t bring himself to analyze in this moment. Too overwhelmed at being so close to her, at having her hands all over his body.
His cock hardened beneath the fly of his jeans for the second time that night, desperate for her touch. Her hot, tight little body plastered to his, her curves fitting him like a puzzle piece that had been missing his whole damn life.
Her lips brushed against his ear and he grunted, wrapping his other arm around her waist pulling her even tighter to him. Needing to be closer, to fade into her, drown in her.
“Should I thank you for defending my honor? For saving me from the big, bad man?” she purred, running her tongue along the shell of his ear and he shivered.Fuck yes. His mouth ran dry as he considered all the ways she could thank him and it would never be enough. He realized he would always crave more.
Taylor pulled back to stare at him, and his passion-fogged vision cleared as the moonlight shone down on her face. He blinked in surprise. A snarl curled her lips, her eyes glittered up at him violently. Her face twisted into a cruel mask and her mouth split into that nasty smile she had given him all those years ago and he was transported back to that pathetic boy, in that hallway, watching his heart get broken by her all over again.
“Thank you, Beau, for defending me against a man who called me a slut. You would never say such a thing, would you?” Venom dripped from her words, each one punching him in the gut. He had no words, didn’t know what to say.
“How can I ever repay you…” Her eyes flashed at him before dismissing him and heading towards the door.
She’d done it again. She’d played him. She had brought him to his knees yet again and he’d let her. Anger and pain coiled inside him, so familiar now it was almost a part of him. Before he could stop himself, he called after her.
“I’m naming my favor.”
She stiffened then turned slowly to face him, her eyes blank.
“A kiss.”
“Fuck you!” she spat.
“No, not yet. I want a kiss first,” he said, giving her a devilish smile.
“Fine, we’ll do it now,” she said and made her way towards him. But he didn’t want her to give in. Not so easily, he wanted her toearnit.
“Oh no sweetheart. Not only do I want a kiss, but I want you to ask me for it. I want you tobegme for it. And only whenI’mready, will I give in.”
Her mouth twisted again. “I hate you.”
He smiled sadly. “I know.”
His statement hung between them, painful, like an open wound. “But you need to forget about that tonight, I’m staying here.”
Her eyes widened and she started to protest. “No way!”
“Yes, Taylor. Think about it, he was in your home. Even with all of our mountains of bullshit I’m not leaving you alone. So put a pin in your hate tonight, you can let it all out when we go to therapy,” he said, brushing past her and stepping into her cabin.
She came in behind him, still sputtering, spitting rage at him but he ignored her, locking the door behind them and sliding the bolts into place. When she realized he wasn’t going anywhere she stomped off to her room, slamming the door.
Beau called Blake to let him know that Dale hadn’t left after all and that he’d been inside Taylor’s cabin, also that he and Beau had an altercation.
“Be careful man, the last thing I want in all of this is to have to arrestyoufor assaulting this asshole,” Blake growled down the phone. Beau could hear Justine calming him in the background.
“I will be more careful, I promise. I just…my anger got the better of me,” he replied.
“Man, that isn’t like you. But don’t worry, I’ll go and pay him a visit tomorrow and have a chat with him. I’ll keep you updated.”
“Thanks Blake. Take it easy,” Beau said and hung up then turned his attention to trying to get settled on her tiny couch for the night.
Had he been an asshole to her tonight? Absolutely.
Did he regret it? Absolutely not.
Sometimes you had to play dirty to get what you wanted. He wasn’t always the good guy.
