She tapped her chin contemplatively. “Hmm, true.” She shot him a cheeky grin.

He growled. “It’s that kind of behavior that results in a spanking.”

She eyed him wickedly. “Promise?”

He barked out a laugh and kissed her again, melting into her body. He would never tire of kissing her.

“So how do we stop it from being boring, what do we do when we know all of each other’s stories and memories?” she asked, peering up at him.

“That’s easy, sweetheart. You make new ones.”

They came out of her office, figuring that they could at least try and wait until they weren’t at their best friend’s wedding to have makeup sex. Hand in hand they strolled through the bar over to their friends.

“Is this what I think it is?” Christy squealed, pointing to their clasped hands. Taylor looked up at Beau, her soul blooming to life, full of happiness and love. They nodded.

“Best wedding present ever!” she shrieked.

Dean shook his head. “Really? On my wedding day this is now the mental picture I’m gonna have? You two shacking up together.”

“I’d suggest you don’t think about it,” Beau said with a wink. Will and Blake burst out laughing at Dean’s scowl.

“This makes me so freaking happy!” Justine bawled, then reached into Blake’s back pocket and pulled out a twenty-dollar bill, slapping it into Christy’s waiting hand.

“Whoa, I thought bets were our thing?” Taylor moaned to Christy.

“Um, Taylor?”

Taylor turned to see Rebelle stood behind them, wearing the dress that Taylor had sneaked into her laundry bag.

“You came!” Taylor wrapped her arms around Rebelle, and felt the woman stiffen at her touch, probably not expecting to be hugged.

“Yes. Thank you for the outfit,” she said, for Taylor’s ears only.

“It looks great on you.”

“Thanks.” She smiled shyly before glancing around and dropping her voice. “I was wondering though, did you still need help at the bar? I was thinking maybe I could pick up a shift or maybe two a week?” Rebelle took a deep breath and Taylor saw her looking at Justine, Justine gave her a slight nod and a thumbs up.

Hope lit Taylor’s chest at the idea of bringing Rebelle into their fold more but before she could answer a large shadow eclipsed them both.

“Hey there, pretty lady. What’s your name?” Will’s confident voice boomed out. Taylor glared at him for not reading the room better and she thought she heard a growl coming from Blake. But Rebelle didn’t even look at him, didn’t react like anyone else had entered their conversation.

The silence stretched on as Rebelle ignored him, keeping her gaze fixed solely on Taylor and Taylor tried to pull their conversation back to fill up the awkwardness, gobsmacked that Will had just been so spectacularly rebuffed. “Uh, I’ve just hired someone but I can take you on a couple of nights a week?”

Relief lit Rebelle’s delicate pixie features. “I would really appreciate that,” she said, still ignoring Will who hovered awkwardly next to Taylor, watching Rebelle with rapt attention.

“Great, why don’t you pop by next week and we can sort it all out?”

Rebelle smiled softly. “Great, see you then, and thanks.”

She waved to the group and then she was gone.

Will turned back to them. “Who was that? I need deets immediately.”

A louder growl from Blake echoed through the group. “Don’t even think about it.”

Justine stilled him with a hand on his chest. “Stop it honey, she’s a grown woman.” Justine turned to Will. “Ignore him, he’s a little overprotective of her, she’s like a sister to him.”
