“About the incident that pushed us apart. Something finally occurred to me. You weren’t using me.”
“Duh,” she interrupted.
“You actuallylikedme,” he said.
Ah.She had been hoping he wouldn’t pick up on that. Heat flooded her cheeks and when she didn’t respond he prompted her.
“Yes, fine. Okay, I liked you,” she sighed.
“Interesting development…” he rumbled.
They continued to sway and when he didn’t elaborate any further, tension rolled in thick and fast. It was too hot in this place, she wanted to escape to get some air.
He bent his head to her ear. “I still think about our kiss.”
Her eyes flared and her stomach completed a series of somersaults and she tried to get her rampaging pulse under control.Shit, he did?He pulled back and she quickly smoothed her expression. He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, his touch lingering.
“I’ve been thinking about something else too,” he said.
Like how amazing it would be if we went back to the cabin and didn’t leave my bed for forty-eight hours? Yeah, me too…
“What’s the deal with you and not kissing?” he asked, his voice slightly breathless.Or not.
She didn’t answer, couldn’t get her tongue to work properly to respond and she saw defeat settle in his eyes.
He said, “Don’t worry about my favor. I didn’t realize you would be afraid to kiss me so let’s just drop it.”
Her pride rankled, hard. “I’m notafraidto kiss you!”
“Tell your sweaty palms that.”
“I’m not afraid and I don’t back down when I owe someone something. Taylor doesn’t owe anyone shit so if that’s what you want then that’s what you get!”
“I’m just teasing you, sweetheart,” he spoke softly, trying to calm her rage.
“No, if that’s what you want then come on let’s do it now,” she challenged. Too late did she see the flare of satisfaction in his eyes. He pulled her closer, his mouth against her ear again.
“Fine, we’ll stick with it. But don’t forget sweetheart, you have tobegme for it.”
She swallowed her groan and buried her face in his sweater to stop from doing exactly what he wanted.God, what’s wrong with me?
Beau swayed them back and forth, slowly, intimately. He let go of the hand he was holding and wrapped both his arms around her, pulling her flush against him, her body melting into his. His palm rubbed up and down her back, then into her hair. His thumb caressed the nape of her neck and her eyelids fluttered closed. The whole bar disappeared and there was no one but her and Beau, swaying to the beat of the music.
He nuzzled into her neck, drawing her hair away from her shoulder. His mouth pressed to her sensitive skin, in that place where her neck met her shoulder. His soft lips closed together agonizingly slowly and a current shot through her entire body. Her breath whooshed out of her and he gripped her tighter, pulling her hard against him, impossibly closer as he repeated the kiss. This time a moan slipped from her lips as she felt the barest flick of his tongue over her hot, damp skin. She was on fire, burning from the inside out as flames of desire devoured her. Desire more intense than she’d ever felt before.
She was shaking, moaning softly, ready to beg. Ready to beg for that kiss she owed him. That she secretly wanted to give but couldn’t admit. His tongue swirled against her skin, his teeth nibbling gently and she wondered what it would feel like between her legs.
The sound of applause broke through the lust haze he had wrapped her in, just from kissing her neck. She leapt away from him and he raked a shaky hand through his thick, chocolate hair then down over his face and across his swollen mouth. His eyes blazed with arousal, telling her everything his kiss just had.I want you.
“I’m, uh-” she began, not having an end to her sentence.
“Tay, I-”
“Excuse me,” she interrupted. She needed air. Now. She headed for the door but was stopped by his grip on her upper arm.
“Tay, we should talk.”
“No!” she shoved him off. She grabbed the door handle, pulling it open but he batted it closed, forcefully, his body pressing in behind her. Why wouldn’t he let her escape, she didn’t want to be around him right now. She whirled on him but he held up a hand.
