Chapter Twenty Seven
Max
Thenapseemedtodo us both a world of good. I woke to Charlie stroking a lightly calloused hand down my back in a teasing manner. A slightly goofy smile shone on his too handsome face.
I studied him in the fading light, the gleam in his eyes affectionate. I ran a finger down his nose, noting the almost invisible bump from where he’d broken it in the car accident. Then I booped his nose. “C’mon, shower then dinner.”
My scrambling to get out of bed was slightly impeded by getting tangled in the blanket. I hit the floor with an “Ooof,” and Charlie bellowed with laughter before dashing off to get in the shower first.
When I joined him under the warm spray, he checked me over for injuries before pulling me into a kiss.
I’d never imagined that it would be so easy, effortless really, to be with him. Everything great about our friendship had transferred to our relationship. Sexually we seemed compatible too, though I worried about how easy that had gone and didn’t trust it to last.
We jacked each other off under the water of the shower, no worries about mess there, before rinsing off and getting dressed. None of my clothes would fit Charlie, he was about four inches taller than me and his muscle gains had meant he was far wider too, so he went commando in his jeans.
I made us some dinner and we chatted about the café or the gym but not about how weird I’d been on our dates. I knew that I owed Charlie more of an explanation than I’d given him, but part of me just hoped that it wouldn’t be an issue.
We sat in silence for a while as we finished up our meals until Charlie broke it.
“It’ll be fine, you know. We’ll find what works for us.” He smiled before turning serious. “You just have to speak up for what you want. The same goes for me, if I don’t like something, I’ll tell you.” He paused. “It’s all about communication and compromise, or so Evan says.”
We both laughed.
“You’re right, though. We just have to keep talking.” I reached for his hand. “Thanks for not laughing earlier.”
“Why would I laugh? You want to be safe and you don’t like cum everywhere. You’ve got a point.”
“No, I meant about me topping. I don’t get to do it very often but I enjoy it more, for…uh…reasons.”
“I was being honest. I love bottoming. I just didn’t do it often for hook-ups because they look at me and see a top.” He shrugged. “Seems like we’re a perfect fit that way. As for the condoms thing, I’m happy to do that for as long as you need. It’ll take a bit of getting used to for blow jobs if you even do them.” He looked at me and I nodded. “But the point is that we’ll talk it through and once we get used to what the other likes then we’ll be golden.” He gave me a grin that stretched wide across his face before slinging an arm around me and pulling me close. He pressed a kiss to my temple.
“As much as I want to spend all night with you, we both have work in the morning and I’ll need clean clothes. I should head home.”
“Want me to drive you?”
“Nah, I’ll get a ride-share.” He looked hesitant for a second and my heart clenched. “Why don’t we see a movie on Tuesday? Maybe you could pack a bag and stay overnight with me?”
Relief washed over me, and I gave what I was sure was a tremulous smile. “I’d like that.”
We’d worked together the next morning, keeping a careful distance until we shared our break in the office. Most of it had been spent with me pinned against the door as Charlie owned my mouth, my hands in his hair. I was sure our rumpled appearance later had set tongues wagging, but we’d decided to keep our relationship quiet, at least at work, until we got used to what we were.
It probably didn’t help matters that Charlie had appeared that Monday an hour or so before his therapy appointment with Evan, to have lunch with me.
We’d eaten in a locked office and then Charlie had slipped under the desk, produced a flavored condom, and proceeded to suck my brains out via my dick. I’d been ready to return the favor, since Charlie had bought plenty of condoms, but a knock on the door had put an end to that plan.
Our third date, since I was including our meal at Charlie’s apartment as a date, went well. We ate out at a great fusion place and watched the newest blockbuster action movie. An easy brainless watch so we could relax after a busy couple of days.
“Still okay to stay over?” Charlie asked as we left the theater to head to my car.
“Yeah, I have a bag in the trunk.” We leaned against the car enjoying the night air after the humid theater.
“Great, so…we both have tomorrow off. Henry had me come in today instead since I knew you were off. How about we go to the amusement park? Go on a ton of rides and hit up the arcade?”
Seeing his excitement ratcheted up my own. “Yes! That sounds like an amazing plan.”
Charlie leaned in close, pressing me against the car, and kissed me sweetly.
“I have to say that I never thought that having you as a boyfriend would be this good, or this easy, Max.”
