“That sounds perfect. Nothing too stressful. Just us hanging out.”

“But not as friends this time. Something more than that. I’m done waiting for it to happen,” I stressed. I wanted it to be perfectly clear.

“Something more. Yes.”

Max surprised me then. He pulled back a little before both hands came up to my face. He pulled me down and his lips met mine for the first time.

Maybe I was already biased to anything relating to Max, but the kiss rocked my world.

It was utterly perfect.

His lips were slightly damp and warm against mine. The pressure was firm but not hard. Like he wanted me to be sure that he wanted this, that this wasn’t a mistake.

Before long the kiss became something more as need took over and his mouth opened to my tongue.

Time stretched on as we explored each other’s mouths. Max’s grip on my face moved to the back of my head, fingers running through the dark strands. My hands dropped to his waist and I pulled him firmly against me as my cock began to thicken at the feel of his compact body against mine.

After a few long moments, Max let out a sigh and began to withdraw, but not before I pulled him back to me and placed a firm but chaste kiss on his slightly swollen lips.

He took a step back and grinned at me and I couldn’t help but grin back at him. There was a feeling of rightness in my chest that I couldn’t explain.

“I didn’t want to wait to do that,” he said, his voice husky. “Better to find out before we date if we have any chemistry.”

“Well, you answered that question,” I said, adjusting my dick in my jeans, the thick material strangling it painfully.

Max laughed, a sound so full of joy that I couldn’t help my smile widening.

“Let’s get out of here. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight. This is just so unbelievable, y’know?”

I did know. Even though we’d sort of talked about it, there had always been room for doubt or Max changing his mind. The idea that we wouldn’t be compatible as a couple had never occurred to me.

We finished locking up and I waited for Max as he made sure both the café and the bookstore entrances were secure and the alarm system was on before taking his hand and walking him to his car.

“You want a ride home?”

“Nah, it's still early. I’m going to head to the gym for a bit and then go home.”

“Okay. Text me about tomorrow. Do you want to meet somewhere or d’you want me to pick you up?”

“I’ll think of something when I’m getting some miles in at the gym and text you, okay?”

“Okay.”

I couldn’t help pulling him back in for another long hug and kiss before we parted ways.
