“That’s because I am, but I’ll explain later. How do you feel?”
“I’m so hungry. I don’t want to eat, though.”
“I know what you need. Do you trust me?”
“You do?” I looked up into his earnest face. In my gut, I knew trusting him was the right thing to do.
“Yes. Please, just trust me, okay? You can’t hurt me.”
“What—?”
He cut me off with a kiss, this one deep, his tongue probing my mouth. I drew an arm around him, circling his waist and pulling him into my lap. Before, his larger frame would have squashed me, but now I felt powerful. His weight felt like nothing. No, it didn’t feel like nothing. It felt right. This was where he belonged. With every movement of his mouth on mine, I felt clearer. His kiss felt healing, replenishing.
Quill’s hands explored my chest as I sucked on his tongue and groped his ass. He ran his fingers over my horns, making me shiver. I gasped against his mouth as he caressed my ear. Quill moaned as he rutted against me.
I could feel his hardness against my stomach, my own against his crack. I wanted inside him desperately, but we hadn’t discussed anything about what we liked, how far we wanted this to go. My fingers plucked at the waistband of his pants. Pulling at the shirt, I managed to get my fingers on his smooth, hot skin. He groaned.
He reached a hand between us, going for the button of my ruined slacks. I grabbed his hand, pausing the movement. “What’s this?” The cuff he wore looked familiar. It was metal, gold, most likely, and covered in runes.
Runes.
Witch magic.
Quill scooted off my lap and stood looking worried. “You can see it?”
“Am I not supposed to be able to?” I cocked my head. Something about this was off.
“You didn’t see it before. He spelled it so no one could.” Quill said warily.
“Who?” I demanded.
”—“ His mouth worked but nothing came out. I tried to read his lips, but whatever geas, curse, he was under prevented me from that. He was magicked not to tell me. To tell anyone.
“Why do you have it on?”
Again he tried to tell me. It looked like it physically pained him not to answer. No matter how he tried, he just couldn’t.
My tail reached for him, drawing him close enough our legs were touching. “Hold still. Hopefully, this won’t hurt.” Quill tried to jerk away as I spoke. I was holding too firmly to his arm for that. I tried taking it off.
“It won’t come off. I’ve tried.”
I closed my eyes, searching for my power. It was easy to see now that both sides of me had merged. My power was vast now that I was whole. With a thought, I pushed my intention to have the cuff split apart.
With a dull thud, it landed on the floor in two pieces.
Quill used my distraction to pull his arm from my hold. There was a flash of violet magic and before me stood a full demon.
We stared at each other. He struck me dumb. In his true form, he was utterly stunning. My bizarre new sense told me he wouldn’t, no, not just wouldn’t, couldn’t hurt me. I looked my fill. He was huge, violet skinned, with the same purple wings and horns. His tail, triangle tipped like mine, reached for me, wrapping around my arm. Quill tried to pull it back. “Sorry.”
“No, it’s okay. I like it.” I let mine return to him before looking up into glittering black eyes. There was no white part to his eyes like with human like beings here. “Are my eyes black now, too?”
“They are. You look lovely, Cody.” I looked down at myself. Hadn’t changed color or gotten any bigger. No, I was just me with demon parts.
“But—“
“No. You are perfect in both forms.”
I had so many questions about what I was. What had happened. Those all went on hold as I asked the most important one. “Are you the demon who has been doing magic on me?”
