Dalton smiled at something, those damn dimples popping. I was sure I had a weakness for those dimples.
Fuck, he was cute!
My mind was clearer now I’d eaten. There was still a fog over my senses from all I’d drank, but I was more myself.
“Thanks for coming to check on me.”
“You’re welcome. I hope you feel better. I do, now that the booze is hitting. Damn, that was good shit.” He giggled, leaning his head against my chest. “Are you okay now?”
“Better than I was. Still sad, just not as bad as earlier.”
Dalton eased himself onto my lap. “You know what makes me feel better when I’m sad?” He leaned in, his arms resting on my shoulders. “Orgasms. A lot of them.” I could feel his hot breath against my lips. He was so very tempting like this. “So why don’t you carry me upstairs and see if I can make you feel good?”
“Dimples, I’m sure you can.”
Mutual Comfort
Dalton
Maybe taking Larken up to his room to fool around was a bad idea, especially given that he was about the only person, aside from Chase, really, that I could stand to be around for any length of time at that moment.
Larken was safety and comfort. He was warm nights hanging out in front of a movie we didn’t watch. He was whispered secrets without any fear of judgment. He was my friend. Quickly becoming my best friend.
I eased myself off his lap and reached for his hand. He took it, threading our fingers together.
“You sure?” he asked.
“Absolutely. I think we both need this, don’t you?”
“Yeah.” I could tell he was as certain about this as I was. He had looked me over appreciatively more than once. I knew he was as attracted to me as I was to him.
Larken was hot. His body was toned from hours of training. Cool tawny skin without a blemish or muchbody hair, slightly long wavy dark hair, and those eyes! I loved his eyes! Larken was gorgeous to look at. Sure, his nose was a little too wide for his face, if you were being totally picky, but his full lips were plush and kissable. The spark of mischief in his eyes was what always had me looking at him.
There were no more words shared between us as he led me through the mansion, up the stairs, and down the long corridor where his room was.
A buzz of awareness thrummed between us. Was this stupid? Probably. Could it damage our friendship? Likely. We’d get over it with time, probably. Was I doing it anyway? Of course I was. Again, Larken was hot.
For a split second, I felt Larken’s flash of sadness as I entered his room behind him and spotted the empty bed. Some of Roan’s things were still there, though most of it was missing, conspicuous by the gaps they made.
Larken’s walls went up before I squeezed his hand, reminding him I was there for him. We shared a smile, knowing this was just two good friends giving each other comfort.
He hesitated at the edge of the bed. I pulled him to face me. Going onto my tip-toes, since Lark was quite a bit taller than me, I pressed my lips against his.
I’d always thought the sparks flying thing was an exaggeration, but nope, they did indeed fly between us. Lark drew an arm around me, pressing my lower back closer to him as he deepened the kiss.
We broke apart, chests heaving for breath. His pupils were blown. His fingers flexed on my hips as I took a step away.
With a grin, I pulled off my shirt and dropped it to the floor. Copying my movements, Larken began to shed his clothes. I toed off my shoes, but paused, fingers on the button of my jeans. He stopped too, waiting.
“Nothing has to change between us. We can stop here.” While we had both been drinking, I only had a slight buzz. I was pretty sure Larken was almost sober. We couldn’t blame this on alcohol in the morning.
“After that taste, Dimples? Hell, no. Get your cute ass over here.” He sat on his bed in only his boxers and patted the spot next to him.
I flashed a grin, certain he could see the dimples he seemed to love, and wriggled out of my skinny jeans. They made my ass look fantastic, yet were a pain in the butt to get out of in a hurry. And I was in a hurry to check out Larken’s body.
Naked and hard, I walked the last couple of steps over to him, and instead of sitting next to him, Igracefully sat on his lap. This was a new favorite place to be.
Our eyes met the charge from before, building between us once more as I waited for Larken to make his move.
