“Baby,” she whined. I laughed and untied the covering from her eyes. She blinked a few times as she looked around then over to me, a wide smile appearing on her face. “Our first unofficial date.”

“Exactly,” I kissed her again. “I’ll be back.”

I exited the truck and jogged over to the bushes. Most of the flowers were dying but there was one in the center that looked full of life. I picked it and shook it a little to make sure no bugs or nothing was on it before returning to the truck. Jersei was already blushing when I handed it over.

“For you.”

“I still have the first one. It’s dead, but that’s not the importance of it. What’s important is who it was from and the reason behind it. Thank you, baby.”

I could see that she was getting emotional, so I palmed the base of her neck and placed a kiss against her forehead and didn’t release her until she released the small breath she was holding.

“You’re welcome, J.”

Jersei made dinner after we left her garden this morning. It was Sunday night, and she had events all week at Hillside, while school was picking up full swing for me. The end of August and start of September were the months where you could feel the year settling. Being that our schedules were going to be hectic, I wanted to carve out time for us.

Smoothing the blanket over the bed of the truck, I opened the back window so we could hear the music from the inside of the truck. It was cooling down in Harvest Hills, so the fans I packed weren’t needed. Jersei grabbed a handful of rocks and put them on the back before I helped her on and sat beside her.

“It’s so beautiful out here,” she sighed, looking over the lake. “Do you know how to skip rocks?”

“Do you know how to skip rocks?” I repeated her question, looking upside her big ass head. “Hmph. Just ‘cause I wasn’t raised on a farm like yo’ straw chewing ass don’t mean I didn’t grow up doing typical nigga shit.”

Jersei laughed and shoved my shoulder. “Hey, I gotta ask with yo’ I love my city head ass.” She picked up a rock. “I bet you can’t beat me.”

I didn’t reply. Grabbing a rock, I watched her toss hers. I can’t lie, it went further than I thought it would, but I wasn’t worried.

“Beat that nigga.”

I moved her aside so she wouldn’t get hit within my reach, shook it like dice, and flicked the rock into the water. It skipped several feet past hers before sinking. I looked at her from the corner of my eye, and she rolled her eyes.

“It’s rigged,” she folded her arms, and we laughed. “Zion’s dad called and apologized.”

“Did you accept?” I popped the top on a bottle of her red wine. The white was good, but this one was top of the line. I drink it out of the bottle like some whiskey.

“I did. It felt genuine until the end. He told me his man was cheating and got a baby on the way. I told him he had two options, be a good stepdaddy or find a therapist, but venting to me like we cool ain’t on the list. That’s on you, my nigga,” I handed her the wine bottle, and she took a heavy sip. “He hung up in my face so fast. We might be back at square one, but oh well.”

“Nigga thought he had a friend,” I tossed another rock.

“And did.”

Zion told me a few weeks back that he called and apologized, but he still hadn’t spent time with him. I wanted to make it a point to take him somewhere once a week, even if that was to go and hoop to ensure he knew not everybody would fail him.

“So, Sticky is going to prison in Washington state. They gave her eight years plus time served.”

“Baby,” Jersei wrapped her arms around my body. “I’m so sorry. Are you okay? Is Valen alright?”

“She went to see her before going back to Indigo Falls. She said that’s what Sticky deserves, but I know she give a fuck.” I scratched my beard. “And I’m good. I’ma make sure she’s good up there the same way I do here. That’s all I can do. I plan to go see her every week until they process the transfer which ain’t until October.”

“Do you want me to go with you?”

“You have to work.”

“That’s not what I asked you, sir.”

I looked down at her and kissed her nose. “Excuse me, mama. If you’re comfortable then, yes. I would like for her to meet the woman I plan to marry. By the time she gets out, we’ll have about five kids with Zion included.”

“With Zion included,” she repeated with a smile. So Beautifulby Musiq Soulchild started, and Jersei started swaying. Her hand that was against my chest traveled down to my sweats and she massaged my length until it hardened under her touch. “Sounds like we got some work to do.”

I understood her not wanting to touch me with her bare hands since we’d just been playing in rocks. She leaned up and traced my lips with her tongue, before snaking her tongue around mine. J tugged at my pants while we kissed, and I assisted in pulling them down. When she broke the kiss, she spit on the head of my dick making me hiss.
