Where are you? All the other guys are here.

Are you late? You better not be late.

Evan.

Get here. Now.

“Fuck. I’m late.” I rolled my eyes. Fucking Murph. “Okay, maybe we were pushing it.”

“Sorry. I think I got a little carried away with kissing you.” Daisy blushed, avoiding my eyes. “I hope I didn’t get you into trouble with your coach.”

I grasped her chin softly, lifting her head so we were eyeing each other. “Don’t ever say sorry for kissing me, sweetheart. This wasn’t your fault. I can handle Murph. And it was worth it. Promise.”

Smiling, Daisy gave me a little nod. “Are you ready to go? I m-might have to fix m-my hair b-before we leave.” Daisy stood up slowly, looking a little shaky on her legs.

I laughed softly. “You okay, baby?”

“I’m… Yeah.” She gave me a blissful smile. “M-More than okay. I just… really enjoyed that.”

“Maybe it was a bad idea to do this before the dinner, huh?”

Daisy shook her head. “N-No. Definitely n-not a b-bad idea at all.”

Chuckling, I stood up, grabbing Daisy’s hands in the process. I pulled her close to me, letting her rest against me. “You feel good? You liked that?”

“It was n-nice.” She gave me a shy, little smile. “Really, really n-nice.”

“Maybe we can do a little more of that after the dinner. When we have no one interrupting us,” I suggested.

Daisy blinked up at me, biting at her bottom lip. “I think I’d like that.”

I had been in the process of leaning down to give Daisy’s pouty lips a kiss when I saw a photo on her desk. My eyes narrowed as I stared at the image that featured Daisy and two other people.

“Please don’t tell me that’s a photo of your parents,” I mumbled, moving over to the framed photo.

“That’s them,” Daisy said softly.

“Babe, you let me kiss you like that with your parents watching?” I picked the photo up. Daisy looked a lot like her mom. That was where she got her big eyes from. But she had her dad’s dark hair. “I said all that stuff to you as well…”

Daisy laughed from behind me. “I promise they’ll forgive you.”

My eyes scanned the photo some more, noticing that Daisy’s parents were standing in front of a small building with a name displayed across the front. “Fermier,” I slowly said the name.

“That’s the b-bakery. And that’s French for farmer, in case you’re wondering.”

Humming, I set the photo back down. “How are they? How’s everything with the bakery?”

“Uh, g-good. Perfect.” Daisy slowly reached down and grabbed at a greeting card that had been sitting next to the photo. She sent me a smile, gripping the little bit of cardboard tightly. For a second, I wondered if she didn’t want me to see it or something.

“They must be pretty busy without you there. Did they get someone else to cover for you or something?”

“Uh…” Daisy blinked at me. “Yeah, I think so.”

“Should I meet them?” I asked. “I feel like I should be meeting them.”

Daisy’s eyes widened a little. “You wanna m-meet m-my parents already?”

“I love parents. I’m real good with parents. I have that take-him-home-to-momma-face, you know?”
