“Wait, what did you say?”

“That Asher’s an asshole and that he deserves to get hurt.”

I let out a soft, little laugh. “Evan. Don’t get yourself into trouble. Please.”

“Well, I’m right. And I was right to kick his ass. Murph isn’t doing shit about fixing the problem, though. Asher shouldn’t be on the team if he’s gonna treat you like that.”

“Evan, thank you. I appreciate you sticking up for m-me. B-But I didn’t expect A-Asher to get taken off the team or anything.”

“I should had done more,” Evan said sternly. “Fuck, I don’t know, maybe I should have said something else. But we had that talk right before the game and I was pissed the whole night. I guess you could see that. When I get angry, it takes over my whole body.”

Nodding, I let my hands land on Evan’s shoulders. I felt so safe with him, so protected. Any fear I had felt when Asher walked by me earlier had melted away completely. With Evan I was okay. I was sheltered. “I don’t want you to feel like this. You don’t have to handle m-my pain. I can handle it m-myself.”

Evan shook his head. “No. You don’t handle your pain on your own, Daisy. Maybe I can’t take it all away from you or fix every problem. But I’m always here for you. And I’m not letting you deal with any of this on your own. Not anymore. Not after you had to deal with this without anyone on your side. You’ve got someone on your side now. That’s a promise.”

I gave Evan a slow kiss. His hands landed on my waist, squeezing at me tight. No one had ever said anything so kind to me before. But I appreciated every word, every gesture. It just felt so good to finally feel safe. Like I could trust someone, like I could give them all of me and know they cared.

It was so easy for me to get lost in the kiss, my lips moving against Evan’s eagerly. He hummed slowly, his touch so firm and wonderful. I couldn’t get enough of that touch. Especially after the other night. He had made me feel so, so good.

There was an ache between my thighs as I thought about that night. It was an ache that wouldn’t go away. Seeing Evan on the ice like that – all angry and powerful and dangerous – did something to me.

I wanted him. Ineededhim.

“Evan,” I let out against his lips.

“Yeah, baby?” he said lowly.

“Take m-me home. Please.”

His hands tightened at my waist harder. The darkness in his eyes grew some more when I said that, so it seemed like he understood what I meant.

Maybe he needed me just as bad.

Chapter 28

EVAN

My hands were all over Daisy. Her waist, her hips, her thighs. She was whining against my lips and my cock was quickly growing hard. I wanted her so goddamn bad. There was so much pent-up rage and adrenaline still inside of me even though the game was over. That energy wasn’t gonna go away anytime soon.

“Oh, baby, I need you so fucking bad,” I muttered.

As soon as we got to Daisy’s dorm earlier, I had guided her to her bedroom, so damn ready for her. Whatever was about to happen, I’d be more than happy with the outcome. Hell, I’d be over the moon just to get the chance to lick at her pretty pussy again.

I had Daisy underneath me on her bed, my hands unable to pull away from her. I stared down at her, taking in her big eyes and blushing cheeks. My eyes lowered some more and I hissed at the fact that she was in my jersey. That wasmyname and number on her back. I’d have to get her to wear my jerseys more often.

“I gotta have you, baby,” I said softly. “I need it. I need you so bad. Do you need me too?”

“I do.” She nodded. “Please, Evan.”

“Please what, honey? You want me to take you?”

She shuddered below me. “Really, really b-bad.”

“Say it. I gotta hear you say it.”

“Please, Evan. I want you.” She reached up, gentle fingers stroking at my cheek. “I just wanna b-be yours. All yours.”

My lips crashed to hers, giving her an eager kiss that she quickly returned. My hands landed on her own and I gently moved them either side of her head, pressing my hardening cock into her. The soft whine she let out made me grunt against her pouty lips.
