I rock her against me a little harder, reveling in the mewling sounds she’s making as the vibrator hits her G-spot and her clit grinds against me. “You close, baby? Gonna soak through those skimpy little panties you have on? I can’t wait to taste it when weget home. Going to lick you clean and then make you come again so I can do it all over.”
“Fuck.” She bites out, her legs tightening around mine and I hold her tight as she reaches her climax, her body stiffening against me as her orgasm roars through her body. I turn the vibe off so she can come down and give her a soft kiss on her temple while rocking her slower now to the music. She hums and lets me hold her up. “My legs feel like jello.” She chuckles, nuzzling against my neck.
I kiss the top of her head and sway her along to the music for a few more songs before I take us back to our private table. We hang out for a few more hours, ordering more food and drinking more champagne. The night passes in a blur of laughter and fun and I’m once again overcome with so much gratitude for my friends. The family that I created for myself. They’re the greatest people I know, and I’m so goddamn lucky.
River walks us all out when we’re ready to call it a night. He fusses with three very drunk young women as he gets Peyton and his sisters settled into his car before turning to Emma and me. “You good to drive?” He asks Emma, who nods back.
“I only had two glasses, I’m good.” She says. “Sage’s birthday present tonight was me being the designated driver.”
“That wasn’t the only thing.” I say with a cheeky grin, and watch Emma’s cheeks darken. I could watch that blush forever.
She clears her throat. “Good to go, Riv.” She says with a mock salute. “See you back at the apartment.”
She shoves me into the car and huffs when I grab her wrist before she can pull away. “Sage.” She admonishes, but laughs when I tug her closer. “Just want a kiss.” I mumble and smile into her mouth.
She sighs, kissing me one more time before pulling away. “Good birthday?” She asks softly. “The club was okay?”
“It was the best birthday.” I say, stealing one more kiss. “Absolutely perfect.”
Emma’s face lights up as she smiles at me and it makes everything inside my chest feel like it’s been electrocuted. The things she makes me feel… “Emma.” I say again as she pulls away. “I mean it, tonight was perfect. Thank you.”
She nods. “Of course, babe.”
Sliding me back into the seat how I need to be, she buckles me in and I pretend to grumble about being able to do it myself. I watch as she walks around the front of her car and gets settled into the driver’s seat. “Alright.” She says brightly. “Let’s get back home, because you made me alotof promises tonight on that dance floor and I will definitely be holding you to them.”
I laugh and turn my head to look at her. “Fuck yeah, baby. Take me home.”
CHAPTER 17
Emma
Ihave the heat blasting in my car as we drive to the diner. We could have walked, but fall is in full swing now that it’s November, and it’s starting to get almost too cold to walk anywhere. “Why can’t he stay in a hotel?” Sage asks from the passenger seat. She’s been in a pissy mood all morning. Not even the way I made her come on my face before we left was able to get her to snap out of this weird funk she’s in. I’m trying very hard to be understanding, but it’s getting harder and harder to not get irritated with her. Her jealousy is irrational, but I can’t pretend I don’t understand why she’s upset. Igetit. I do, but she needs to let this go a little bit. I want to be able to enjoy having time with my two favorite people, and she’s making it hard. Shesaid she trusts me, but every grumbled word and angry eye roll makes me feel like she doesn’t and it’s making my stomach hurt.
“Babe.” I say softly. “My mom wants him to stay at the house. But I told you, I’ll stay with you while he’s here. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable with any of this.”
She sighs. “I’m sorry.”
“I know.”
“I’m being a bitch.”
“Well.” She smacks my arm lightly and I laugh. “You are!” I defend.
“I know.” She grumbles. “Okay, I’ll be good. I promise.”
“Good.” I grab her hand and place a soft kiss on her knuckles. “We’re meeting him for lunch and then we’ll drop him back off at my mom’s house to get settled in and then pick him back up for dinner. River said he’d cook a big family meal for us.”
“Family.” I hear her huff under her breath, but I ignore it. She can be jealous as long as she’s nice.
I slow my car as we turn into the diner’s parking lot and park in the first spot I find, scanning the lot for Liam. He’s standing against his car, phone in hand, and I watch his face light up when he sees us. “Em!” He calls out when I open my car door. “You look great!”
Sage stiffens beside me, and I cut her a look. “Thanks, Liam. So do you.” I wrap my arm around Sage’s waist. “I know I’ve already gushed about her, but this is my girlfriend. Sage.” I say squeezing her, hoping that she can feel the comfort I’m trying to push into her. I really don’t want her to feel bad about this. Liam is still my best friend, and he’s a big part of my life. I’m not going to cut him out just because our marriage didn’t work out. And oh my God. I get why she’s so mad now.Fuck.
“Babe.” I murmur against her, but she just shakes her head.
“I’m fine, Em.” She gives me a weak smile. “Hi, Liam. It’s nice to meet you.”
“Likewise! I’ve heard so much about you!”
