“I’m just trying to get clarity.”

He sighed. “Yes, I was seeing someone not too long ago, but I didn’t sleep with her.”

“Why not?”

“Is now really the time for this conversation? You know, while we’re naked, and you’re about to put a condom on me, that hopefully hasn’t expired?”

“It can be a really short conversation.”

“Fine. I didn’t sleep with her because I didn’t want to.”

“Why not?”

“What happened to this being a short conversation?” At her unblinking stare, he sighed again before replying, “Because I didn’t like her enough to sleep with, that’s why.”

“Okay.”

When she continued to just look down at him, he asked, “What?”

“I’m just wondering if you cooked for her? Because sex is one thing, but cooking is something altogether different.”

He almost laughed at that. “No, I didn’t cook for her. Feel better?”

“Yes, I do.”

She started to bend down and press her lips to his, but he held her off, just enough to say, “Hold on. I think I should get some clarity, too.”

“It’s been almost that long for me, too,” she told him. “And the only person I ever cook for is Paige.”

“Are you sure? You haven’t made waffles for anyone in the morning?”

“That would require someone to actually be around for breakfast.”

That statement told him a lot, and with a smile he motioned toward the box in her hand.

“Oh, right.” She quickly looked over the box and found the condoms to be nowhere near the expiration date, so she said, “We’re golden.”

After busting open the box and pulling one out, she quickly tore the square packet, and wasted no time rolling the condom down his length.

With the moment now upon him, his anxiety came flooding back. “Oh, God, I actually feel a little … nervous,” he blurted out.

“Why?”

“Because you probably have a lot of expectations—”

“Of course I do. And we’re going to make them become reality.”

With that, Jules situated herself on top of him and took him in hand, angling his cock so that she could sink down on him. She went slowly, to savor this first time, and when he was fully inside her, she opened her eyes to see Malcom staring at her.

She’d had many lovers and was no stranger to being naked with a man, but there was something about the way he looked at her, that made her feel like she was being seen for the first time, with emotional desire as well as sexual desire.

Like she hadvalue.

This wasn’t just about mutual pleasure and getting off, it was about taking the next step, and for a second, she faltered, because she’d never had sex with real emotions involved.

He blinked at the subtle shift in her demeanor. “What is it?”

“I was just thinking you really see me … and how much I like that.”
