“What ever happened to the dicks who birthed you?”
He kissed the top of my head and didn’t bother hiding a laugh when two of the skaters rolled right into each other.
“I found them when I was twenty-five. They were living in a drug house outside of Memphis, so strung out they didn’t even notice me standing there. I didn’t bother looking after that. I made up for what they did to the people of my home town and I’ve made peace with it.
I sat up and gently kissed his cheek, just at the edge of his lips.
“I’m lucky I stumbled into your sex party. Imagine if I’d stayed at that college party.”
His hands landed on my ass, tight and hot.
“Don’t. Never imagine that. Your virginity and your body were always supposed to be ours.”
I hummed an agreement and turned my face back to the skaters. I needed to call Reagan and check on her and Lucky. I needed to tell her I’d decided to stop hiding and running.
“Now let’s talk about your car and how you feed yourself.” Luc’s tone had lost the warm openness it’d held before. He was all demanding boss again and his grip on my ass turned punishing. “We’re going to have to establish some ground rules, I think. Ground rules that end with this ass being bright red if broken.”
CHAPTER 39
Luc
There was no playtime that evening. As soon as I had Harley back in the truck and we were on the way home, she was asleep. She didn’t budge when I carried her inside and up to my bedroom. I met Maddox and Jace there and we all stole a few moments to watch her sleep. The stress I’d seen pinching her brows together throughout the day had faded and she looked like an angel.
The three of us finally retreated to the bar downstairs and no one spoke a word until we’d all taken our first drink.
“You took her shopping for baby furniture.” Jace looked pissed.
I shrugged, unwilling to apologize for stealing time away with Harley.
“You two got her naked on your desk and wrote your names on her pussy.”
Maddox choked.
“Ournames. I was very thoughtful.”
“Did you get everything we’ll need?” It took a moment for me to register just how upset Jace actually was. What I’d read as anger might’ve actually been hurt.
I took a deep breath and sank into one of the deep leather club chairs.
“No. She wanted to make sure she could do the same thing with you two. I’m sorry. For being selfish. It didn’t…it didn’t occur to me it would be something big for all of us.”
“Holy shit.” Maddox rubbed his eyes and then widened them as he studied me. “Did the ever aloof and infallible Lucien just apologize?”
Jace looked just as shocked.
“I think he did. Or there’s been an invasion of the body snatchers.”
“Ha ha. Good one.” I finished my drink and tipped my head back. “She has needs that haven’t been met in a long time. She won’t be easy to spoil, though.”
“We’ve got time and stubbornness on our side.” Jace looked at his phone and stood up. “Dominic’s tattoo guy’s here. I’ll let him in.”
Maddox grinned.
“She’s going to freak out when she sees we really tattooed ourselves for her.”
“Anything to show her how serious we are.” I poured myself another glass of whiskey and looked up as a massive Latino man walked in. I recognized him from the club but couldn’t place if he was staff or client.
He worked quickly and efficiently to set up his station before looking up at us.
