Jace gripped my arm at the top of the stairs, his eyes narrowed on my bare feet.
“Wait.”
I was vibrating with need and adrenaline, nearly levitating with it by the time Jace came back and dragged a pair of their massive socks over my feet. I looked like Tom Cruise inRisky Business.
“I’m not risking you on these stairs. Hold on to my neck.” He picked me up and held me to his chest. “Every molecule of my being is fighting me taking you back down there, little girl. Maddox better appreciate me after this.”
As soon as we got to the bottom of the stairs he put me down and patted my ass. I couldn’t move away from them, though. I took a deep breath.
“Come with me. I want him to know that we’re all together in wanting him back with us.”
Luc nodded and Jace nudged me along. It was their silent promise they were going to be right there with me. It was enough of an answer for me to turn around and run through the club.
I had no interest in going back into the main club, not so soon after everyone had watched me get spanked, and thankfully Hunter stepped into the hallway before I had no other choice.
She spotted us and threw her hands up.
“There you are! Go talk some sense into your brother!”
“What’s wrong?” I pulled Hunter in for a tight hug. “We’ll catch up later. I missed you.”
“I missed you, too, jerk.” She cupped my belly and grinned. “This is almost enough to make me forgive Maddox for cosplaying as one of his grumpier brothers.”
“Where is he?” Jace looked as worried as I felt.
“Well, he showed up at the bar looking like a storm and when I told him I wasn’t going to let him get drunk he stole a bottle of bourbon and left. I followed him and he left through the back. I’m not chasing him down out there, not with a hunt going on. I was coming to get one of you.” Hunter took my hand. “I’ll keep Harley safe if you two want to go out and find him.”
A hunt? I had questions but they’d wait. I needed to get to Maddox.
“I’m going. It’s my fault that he’s hurting like he is.”
“You can’t—”
“She can.” Luc held my gaze, even as he spoke to Hunter. “One of us will be glued to her side. As soon as Mad finds out she’s out there, he’ll forget everything but finding her.”
“Are you sure?” Hunter shuddered. “I’m a big fan of all kinks but that crowd’s rowdy tonight. It sounds like a goddamn jungle out there.”
Jace growled.
“She’ll have a red bracelet. And us. No one will get close enough to touch her. Ever.”
“Whatever it is, I can handle it for Maddox.” I hoped so. A jungle? What the hell was I walking into? “Mad and I went back there before, just the two of us. We…played.”
“Mad loves a good primal play session.” Jace looked down at me with so much heat in his eyes that my core clenched. “I have a feeling we all will with you.”
“Let’s go.” I hesitated. “You don’t think he’s looking for someone else to play with out there?”
Luc slapped my ass, lighter than before but still with enough force to burn.
“You’ll stop doubting us or you’ll never sit comfortably again.”
CHAPTER 57
Harley
There was some sort of game master standing guard at the back door to the large, fenced-in back grounds. He nodded with reverence at Luc and Jace, his eyes never even touching me once.
“Master Maddox is already out there. What color bracelet would you like for your pet?”
