Maddox stopped at the stage and didn’t hesitate. He reached forward and grabbed Harley’s hips so he could toss her over his shoulder. She grunted but was otherwise silent as we marched away from the stage with her. When Dominic, a co-owner, met us outside of his office, he just shook his head. Maddox nodded to the door behind him. “Can we borrow your space?”
Dominic stepped aside. “Have at it.”
Harley lifted her head as she passed him and her eyes widened at the sight of the tattoo-covered ex-gang leader.
“You’re lucky I respect you three enough to let you take her like this. She would’ve made a pretty little doll for me.” The other man winked at her. “You would’ve had fun, little girl.”
I shoulder checked him. “Keep your hands and your thoughts to yourself.”
As soon as we were alone with her in the office Maddox put her down on Dominic’s pristine desk and bent forward to grip her bare thighs. “You’re pregnant?”
CHAPTER 8
Harley
I shouldn’t have even been thinking about how hot his hands were on my thighs. Not when he’d just yanked me off the stage and hauled me around like a bag of soil. I wasn’t aware the auction was going to go quite the way it had. They hadn’t even yelled a price like other people had for the women who went before me.
There was an annoying piece of hair hanging in my face that was making it even harder to think straight. I twisted my mouth to blow it out of my face and wondered if there was anything else I could focus on besides the intense man leaning closer to me.
That was when one of the two men standing back chose to step forward. He didn’t stop until his hip was pressing against the side of my thigh where I sat on the desk. His hazel eyes flashed as his hand snapped out and gripped the front of my throat in a firm but surprisingly gentle hold. His thumb stroked my skin as he studied me. “Still such a tasty little innocent.”
That phrase. I sucked in a sharp breath when I looked between the three of them and realized fate had decided to laugh in my face. I’d decided to shout that I was pregnant to the only three men I’d ever slept with. I would’ve screamed ‘fire’ if I hadn’t believed that would get me a ticket I couldn’t afford to pay. I’d just needed an escape because I was chickening out.
“Oh.” Oh? Really, Harley? That’s all you can say? I cleared my throat and pushed myself to say more. “Um. Wow. Hi. Small world, huh? Also, I don’t know if you can call me innocent anymore, thanks to the three of you… Um… I’m sorry I didn’t remember you right away? I hope that isn’t offensive. You were wearing masks and then there was the drugs and I—”
“What fucking drugs?” The man who still hadn’t come closer, the one with the black eyes, put his hands on his hips and I got the urge to call him ‘daddy’ but I wasnotgoing there.
“Drugs? Did I say drugs?” I giggled and even I could hear the hysteria in it. “I didn’t mean drugs. There were no drugs.”
The hand around my throat tightened just enough to get my attention. “Don’t lie to us, little girl.”
My face burned and I wasn’t sure if it was because my body reacted to his gravel-filled voice or if it was the shame of getting in trouble. I opened my mouth and then snapped it shut again. Maybe a subject change was in order. “Who’s office is this? It’s nice—”
“Stop.” Blue eyes invaded my personal bubble while squeezing my thighs tighter. “Tell us the truth. Did someone at our party give you drugs?”
I licked my suddenly very dry lips and shook my head. “No. The truth is embarrassing, though, and I’d rather not say anything else about the drugs.”
“Well, that’s too bad, little girl, because you just told us you were high when we fucked you within an inch of your life. That’s not okay. Jesus. Did you even want that?”
There was something about seeing the panic and horror in the eyes of the man holding my throat that made my chest ache and made me want to spill everything. I grabbed his wrist and held his gaze.
“I did. I definitely did. I…I remember a lot of what happened. In clips, sort of. I was a very eager and willing participant. I went out that night planning to get rid of my virginity so it was kind of a happy accident, I guess.”
“A happy accident.” He looked down at Blue eyes. “A happy fucking accident.”
“This is humiliating. I knew I was coming here for the auction and I didn’t want to chance losing my virginity in a way that I hated so, I decided I was going to get rid of it beforehand. Only I know myself and I’m a fucking stick in the mud around most men so I went to see a guy about a horse, if you know what Imean. I bought a pill, onepill, and then I went to some godawful college party. I’d already decided it was a horrible plan and I wasn’t going to go through with it when the cops showed up.”
“Jesus.” Black eyes, I really needed to learn their names, turned away and paced. “I mean…Jesus!”
“I know! I didn’t want to get caught with drugs so I panicked. I don’t know why but I just took the Ecstasy pill-”
“The Ecstasy pill. Jesus fucking Christ.” Black eyes was having a heart attack it seemed.
“Anyway, I took the pill and then I jumped the fence. I ran and ran and then I saw this massive fence and I was sure the cops were chasing me with drug dogs so I thought I’d hide for a bit. But then I found myself in the middle of a sex party and I ranupthe stairs instead of out of the house, just like a typical bimbo in a horror film.” I took a breath. “I watched a couple on the second floor…playing…and then I ended up in the room where we…you know. I was starting to feel the drugs but I was still coherent and very much willing.”
“How old are you? Really?” Removing his hand from my neck, Hazel eyes ran his hand through his hair and tugged at it.
I scoffed at him. “I’m twenty-seven. I know I don’t look like a little kid so why are you suddenly worried about my age? Because I was a virgin? That’s rude. Lots of people are virgins until they’re twenty-seven. Or, is it because I don’t normally do drugs? Sue me, I’m too busy. I have other hobbies, though. It’s not like I’m a dud. Wait, no. What would people your age call people like me? A square? Not that I’m a square.”
