The words would have sounded romantic had they been uttered by some other man. But it was Ram Devara. A shiver slid up her spine.
His words were a threat.
Suddenly, the events leading up to the night began clicking into place.
The quick action taken by the hospital board, the speed of her arrest, and Ram’s timely presence, followed by the contract proposal.
It all led to only one conclusion
“It’syou,” she hissed.
Ram didn’t react or ask what she was referring to. He already knew.
“You’re the one who got me arrested today,” she accused, her voice rising. “You orchestrated all of this! You are the reason charges were filed against me. You purchased the hospital and ensured I wouldn’t be protected if I get into trouble again.”
He didn’t deny it.
His calm demeanor broke her control. She stepped closer to him and slapped him hard.
“You think you can play God with my life!” she shouted. “I will never marry you or have your child, you sick, ruthless bastard!”
Sanjana’s palm stung from the force of the slap, but Ram didn’t move. His face remained impassive, but his eyes flashed darkly.
He rose slowly, every inch of him a deliberate reminder of who he was. A powerful royal who was tall, composed, and terrifyingly calm. His gaze remained locked on hers.
Anyone else would have run or would have been terrified, but she remained, locking eyes with him, daring him to slap her back.
There was a cold smile on his handsome face. “You are still rebellious and impulsive.”
Anger shot through her at his words, even though he was right.
“Do what you want, Ram,” she spat. “But I won’t play whatever sick game you want to play!”
She began walking away from him, going towards the door.
She knew what she was risking. She would be fired from the hospital and maybe even arrested. Her license could be revoked, and she would most likely be blacklisted from all hospitals.
She would be ruined in every way that mattered to her. But she refused to bend to his will.
She was about to yank the door open when she heard him.
“If you leave, everyone who helped you will go down with you,” Ram's cold voice stated.
Sanjana froze near the door.
Then she turned, her face burning with fury.
Ram’s handsome face remained cold. “Whoever assisted you in breaking hospital law. Every one of them will face disciplinary action. Some will even lose their licenses.”
Her heart beat in sick thuds as she recalled all the smiling, kind faces of the doctors, nurses, and even the young interns who assisted her to save lives.
“You’re a monster,” she whispered with her voice shaking.
Ram remained cold. “Sit down, Sanjana.”
Sucking in an angry breath, she went towards him and sat with her jaw clenched and body rigid with anger.
“You are doing all this because I dared to dump you many years ago?” she demanded, unable to believe his cruelty.
