It feels like hours before the concert is over, and I see the door to the green room open.

Skyler walks in, and all the worry I had before vanishes.

“Brother!” he cheers, blond hair all sweaty.

“Hey.” I laugh as he runs over and gives me the biggest bear hug.

“Fuck, I missed you,” he grunts, hugging me tight.

“Missed you too, little brother.” My throat clogs with emotion. I’m glad I said yes. I need to spend more time with him.

“Hey, old man,” Tyson says.

“Fuck off,” I laugh, giving him and Ryker a hug. “I’m only three years older than you.”

“You sure?” Ryker looks me over. “You look closer to forty-two than twenty-four.”

Grinning, I just flip him off.

“Ally, I want you to meet my older brother, Liam.” Skyler introduces, my attention shifting from Ryker over to the pretty Omega by the doorway.

Fucking hell, she’s even more stunning up close.

Warm brown eyes assess me. I swear I feel every hair on my body stand up, and I have to suppress a shiver.

Her stare warms my body, and I have to bite the inside of my cheek to keep myself from getting hard.

“Ally?” Skyler says her name. “You okay?”

She blinks a few times, as if she were in some sort of trance, flicking her attention from me over to my brother. “Yeah. Of course.” She clears her throat, takes a step forward, and I brace myself, wondering if this is it? Is she my scent match?

“Hi, I’m Ally.” She holds out her hand, only standing a couple of feet from me now.

Taking a slow, deep breath, I take in her peppermint cheesecake scent and wait a moment.

While she smells fucking amazing, and my cock really likes it, I know in my soul, she’s not my scent match.

And for some reason, I find myself overly disappointed.

If she’s not my match, then why the fuck do I feel this intensely strong pull towards her?

It doesn’t make sense.

I try not to let the disappointment show as I introduce myself. “Liam Cross,” my voice comes out deeper than I wanted.

Slowly, I raise my hand, taking her soft, warm one in mine.

The moment she touches me, it’s like there’s this electric current that rushes through my veins and right to the deepest part of my soul.

I’m unable to keep the flash of alarm from my eyes before I quickly pull my hand back.

“So.” She smiles. “Skyler says you might be interested in a new job?”

I look at my brother and glare at him before I finally nod. “Yeah. Looking to start over.”

“I get the feeling. So, why don’t you tell me about yourself?” She waves towards the couch.

“Sure.” I clear my throat, trying not to let my inner downward spiral show.
