“No,” she sighs heavily. “Like I’d keep that from you.”
“But you're keeping this from me!”
“Dear god, woman!” Maya groans. “You really are bad at surprises."
“Duh.” I blink at her. “I hate them.”
“Well, I think you're going to love this one.” She smiles proudly. “So stop your questions and just wait. We’re almost there anyway.”
“Fine,” I sigh heavily. “So, how's the book coming? Any new material for me to make some content?”
Her eyes light up. “Yes!” she gushes. “I’ve finally pushed past the writer's block.”
Maya goes into detail about her current book, telling me all the new things she came up with. I love every single thing she tells me, and I’m excited to see how this book comes together.
It helps pass the time, and by the time she’s done, we’re pulling up to a door.
“Where are we?” I ask, peeking out the window, only to see a big brick wall. I can’t see much from this angle, and it doesn’t help that it’s dark.
There’s a knock on the window a second before the door opens. “Maya Danvers?” a man in a black suit asks, poking his head in.
“That’s us,” Maya confirms cheerfully, then turns to me. “Put this on.” She hands me a blindfold.
“No,” I groan. “Maya, no.”
“For me?” she pouts.
“Ugh, you know I don’t know how to tell you no.” I sigh, taking it from her and putting it on.
I might be a bit of a pain in the ass right now, but I’m pretty excited to see what this surprise is. She’s been practically bouncing out of her seat the whole car ride.
“I got you,” Gavin reassures, taking my hand as he helps me out of the car.
“This is stupid,” I mutter as I’m led through a building.
I can’t see anything, but the deeper we get in, the louder it seems to get. Like there are a bunch of people rushing around and talking.
“Where are we?” Brady asks.
“I’m not saying anything,” Benji replies. “Maya would kill me for ruining the surprise."
“It’s nothing we need to worry about, is it?" Gavin asks.
“Do you really think Maya would put Lulu in danger?” Benji asks, as if my men were stupid. I mean, the questionwassilly. Maya is pregnant. The guys would never let her do anything reckless.
“Okay, just through this door,” Maya ushers.
Within a second, the whole atmosphere changes. The loud chaos going on around us is gone, replaced with something calming.
“Can I take my blindfold off now?” I ask.
“Yup!” Maya squeals, sounding like she’s vibrating with joy.
Pulling it off, I blink a few times, eyes adjusting to the light of the room before looking around.
My brows furrow. It’s just a room. With couches and a TV. “Where are–” I start, but words fail me as my eyes land on a poster on the wall.
“I knew how busy you were while the movie was being made, and never got the chance to come to set with me,” Maya starts as I read the words on the poster.
