“Yeah, sure. Sounds good.”

“This is going to be awesome!” I love how excited he sounds. It makes me even more certain that I’ve made the right choice. “I gotta go. Lots to do today. See you tonight.”

“See you tonight.”

We hang up, and I sit there, letting everything sink in.

Something tells me this is too good to be true. How did I go from losing my job, to gaining a better one within twenty-four hours?

One that is closer to the kind of work I want to be doing. This will also give me good experience working one-on-one with an Omega, providing me with better knowledge on how to help my customers once I get my company up and running.

If I keep expecting the worst, that's all I’m going to get. I’m going to see where this goes, enjoy it while I can. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll deal with it then.

This is wild.

The stadium is packed full of people decked out in band merch, smiling and chattering with excitement.

To know all of these people are here to see my brother and his bandmates is crazy. I can’t help but be proud. He’s living his dream, making the best out of his life. I’m so damn happy for him.

After I grabbed my backstage pass, I chose to use the time to get to know the area. Where all the exits are, who’s in charge of what, and getting an idea of just how crazy this crowd is.

I do the same backstage. I might not be working right now, but getting an understanding of how things work will help me do my job when I am on duty.

I introduce myself to a few of the roadies and crew as Ally’s new personal guard, and everyone seems very welcoming and willing to answer my questions, despite the guarded, stoic face I give them.

Knowing they have some decent people working for them is nice.

When the show is about to begin, I make my way to the VIP section. There are some places to sit, but I choose to stand off to the side, out of the way, but with a good view of the stage.

A grin twitches on my lips when I see the band step out. The whole crowd goes wild, screaming their names. It’s almost deafening.

The guys come out first, waving to the audience as they head to their positions.

Then a moment later, out walks Ally, and I swear, all the air in my lungs whooshes out. I’ve seen photos of her on the internet, never really paying much attention.

But now, in person, seeing her up on that stage with the lights shining down on her, she looks almost angelic.

She’s fucking beautiful with her sun-kissed skin, long, dark brown, curly hair, and a smile that lights up the whole room.

What the fuck is wrong with me? Why are these thoughts coming to mind? This is going to be my boss.

“Hello, Chicago! We are Rage Against the Heart!” She greets the fans, and the sound of her voice goes right to my dick.

Okay, seriously, what is going on?

For the rest of the show, I try to listen and enjoy. But my mind is elsewhere. Like, why the fuck am I having these reactions, these thoughts, just from looking at someone?

After a half hour, I give up and leave the show, knowing there’s going to be more to enjoy in the future, and head to the green room.

I need a drink, something to take the edge off.Why am I so worked up?

A thought hits me, and I stop mid-pace.Could she... could she be my scent match? Is that why I have such a strong reaction to her without even being near her?

No. You only get that reaction when you smell your match for the first time. And I was far away from the stage, so I wouldn’t have been able to smell her.

She’s just a pretty Omega. That's it.

Nothing more.
