After I check into my hotel for the night, I debate on what to do. Do I call Skyler now, see if he wants to hang out? Or do I wait until tomorrow?

Can I just show up to the venue and name-drop?

Yeah, I don’t think that would work out so well on my end.

I know I should just call him, let him know I ended up coming, but now I feel like I could be more of an inconvenience than anything else. While I’ve worked parties for celebrities, I’ve never actually interacted with any of them.

I know the guys, but I’ve never met Ally. Hadn't really thought about it, to be honest. From what Skyler told me, she seems like a good person; hard working, made sure the guys got the same rights as she did. Skyler told me their manager tried to force Ally into the spotlight while pushing the guys more towards the back, but Ally wouldn’t let her.

She cares about the guys enough to make sure they’re not getting the shit-end of deals, and I respect her for that.

Funny thing is, I don’t listen to my brother's music. Pop rock isn’t my thing. I’m more of a country guy. Something my siblings love to tease me about.

The decision on when to call Skyler is made for me when I lie down in bed, just to close my eyes for a moment and, instead, wake up at noon the next day.

“Fuck,” I grunt, scrubbing at my eyes, feeling like I just woke from a year-long slumber.Guess I really needed some rest. Maybe the girls were right, and I was working myself too hard.

My phone rings, and it takes a moment for my brain to play catch up as I search for it.

“Hey,” I answer, voice groggy.

“You sleeping or something?” Skyler asks with a chuckle.

“Just woke up.”

“Damn. Mr. Early riser slept in,” he teases.

“Yeah, yeah.” I grin.

“So... I have a question,” he starts slowly.

“Oh god. I don’t think I like that tone.”

“What tone?” he replies defensively. “There’s no tone!”

“You want something, don’t you?” I grumble.

“Not really want something. More like, hoping you can help with something. But I swear it benefits both of us. And the pay is amazing. You will get to see the world. And the best part is, you already know how to do it.”

“Skyler, what the hell are you going on about?” I growl.

“You lost your job,” he states.

“Thanks for the reminder,” I grumble.

“What if I can help you find a new one?”

My brows furrow together. “What do you mean?”

“As a bodyguard," he continues.

“For you?” I ask, huffing out a laugh. “Need someone to protect you, little brother? I mean, I guess you all are big enough for it.”

“No,” he laughs. “Not for me. For Ally.”

Ally. As in their lead singer?

“Doesn’t she already have guards?”
