“We know, your emotions play out over your face, you’ve never learned to hide them. Since you’re going to be a council Alpha’s Mate, you need to control your expression.” Julio patted Vitas on the back.

Vitas sighed. “I’ll never make a good Mate to Henri. I can’t help showing how worried I am when something is wrong.”

“You’ll be fine.” Julio gave Vitas a hug.

“What’s going on? There is a commotion outside. Do your windows face the front?” Ian asked, headed for the curtains.

“Yes.” Vitas clenched his hands. “But The Alpha said not to talk to or see anyone outside of the suite.”

“Looking out the window is not seeing or speaking to anyone,” Ian whined. “I want to know what’s going on, you can’t say that you don’t.”

“Of course, we want to know, but if my Armand said to stay put and not look at or talk to anyone, then that’s what we’ll do.” Sean gave Ian a firm stare.

“You’re a wimp.” Ian pouted.

“Wimp or not, you’re staying right here, even if I have to call Regis to make sure of it.” Sean punched Ian in the arm.

Outside of Henri’s

Frank Ferone worked out for one hour every day, but these Russians were strong. They must breed Schwarzeneggers over there. “I don’t care who you want to see in there. The owner said no one goes in or out.”

He turned his head. “Rocco, get Regis.” Other men pulled up in black Navigators, six to a car. The second set of men got out of their cars and approached the Russians.

Regis came outside with about twenty others. The Russians backed down, got into the cars, and drove away. Frankie stared at Regis. “Who were they?”

“They were the people we asked for your help to keep away. Mr. Giraud and Mr. La Marche will be in your debt. Our force just arrived from the rear alley. Mr. La Marche’s men came in those cars that pulled up behind the Russians.”

“Are they attempting a hostile takeover of Garou?” Frankie’s jaw dropped. He thought Garou was privately held.

“You could call it that. The husbands of the entire Board of Directors are inside. They wanted to kidnap them for leverage. For the last two nights and today, your men prevented that until our men could get here. We are all in your debt.”

“Glad to be of service. Tell Julien and Henri to call anytime. Wow, those guys were strong. If they were more determined, my men would have had to take out their weapons. I’m glad it didn’t come to that.”

“Your weapons would have been ineffective,” Regis said.

“Bullet proof vests…my men have them, too. Do you know what caliber of weapon they carry? If there is a next time, I want my people prepared.”

“They don’t carry weapons. They don’t need them.” Frankie’s jaw dropped. Regis tightened his lips as if he said too much. Frankie let it go, but he would ask Julien.

Armand’s Townhouse

Washington Square

Henri and Etienne called, and Rene took the message. The European Council was headed to Garou with them.

Armand and Rémy picked Chernof up at Armand’s home and were prepared to take him to Rémy’s lands so he could be challenged, but it wouldn’t be fair, and the gods would frown on them. Chernof didn’t have much fight in him. The drug was very potent.

“Hoisted on your own petard, Fydor.” Armand enjoyed tormenting him. Verbal abuse was fair. Chernof had met them with a string of Russian curses.

Armand’s cell rang. He glanced at the Caller ID. It was Regis.

“Alpha, the Russians tried to storm Alpha Giraud’s town house. Frank Ferone and his men held them off until Alpha Giraud’s men, and yours, arrived.”

“Were there weapons discharged?”
