“Completely.”

“I thought… I didn’t know you’d still want to.”

“Of course. I love you, angel. ”

Her eyes go watery; her smile could power the entire mountain. Fuck, she’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever laid eyes on.

“I love you too, Daddy.” I pull her closer, tighter, kissing herdeeply. When we pull apart to catch our breaths, it’s like our eyes can’t turn away. “So what happens now?” Tyra asks softly, like she’s scared to break the moment.

“Now we figure out the logistics. But first, we should prepare for the roads opening.”

By evening, the snow’s stopped. The sky’s clearing.

“It’s really over,” Tyra says, standing at the window, swimming in one of my hoodies. Her curls piled up on her head, looking so fucking sweet my teeth ache.

“The storm’s ending, but we’re just beginning, angel.”

The next morning, when my phone rings, it’s Grizz.

“Yo, brother, you alive up there?”

“I’m good.” I chuckle.

“Good? Brother, you’ve been dark for days. We were about to send a fucking rescue mission up there.”

I chuckle. “No need. Roads’ll be clear soon.”

“Yeah? All good?”

I watch Tyra making coffee in my kitchen, wearing one of my flannels, completely at home in my space.

“Everything’s fucking perfect, brother.”

Pause. “This about a woman?” I hear the amusement in hisvoice. Fucker knows me too well.

I just grin. “See you, brother.” I hang up before he can dig deeper.

The road crews make it to my private road by afternoon. I watch from the deck, but no one comes up yet. Good. More time before reality intrudes.

“What are you thinking about?” Tyra asks, joining me, wrapping her arms around my waist from behind, resting her cheek on my back.

“How everything changed in days.”

“Good change?”

“The best.”

She moves, fitting herself perfectly against my side.

“Havoc?”

“Yeah?”

“Thank you.”
