It went beyond how she felt, though. She couldn’t stop thinking about what she saw, too.

In her fright, she hadn’t really noticed at first. But before he’d switched the lamp off, once she’d calmed down a little from the encounter with the ghost, she’d realized that he was wearing nothing but gray boxer-briefs.

That. Was. It.

Just those little shorts. Not a stitch more.

His chest! Those washboard abs. The shoulders.

He was so freaking yummy she almost couldn’t stand it.

And then there was that bulge in his underwear. The outline of that long, thick member that hung down to the very end, nearly poking out the bottom.

Crap! she thought. How was one man so freaking hot?

She tried forgetting about him. It was time to sleep. Keeping him awake would be rude. Besides, he didn’t want to do anythinganyway. Not with her. If there was some slim, hot, toned girl in his bed then he would have already made a move. But he wasn’t even tempted with Cami.

Right?

Closing her eyes, she tried to will her body to relax. It wasn’t the memory of that ghost keeping her awake. It wasn’t the thought of someone breaking into her own house and rigging up some elaborate haunting scam that had her tossing and turning.

No, it was the presence of Isaiah.

Gosh, how would she ever get to sleep?

About ten minutes passed before his voice softly called out in the darkness, “You, little cutie, have a case of the wiggle-worms tonight.”

“I’m sorry.”

She flipped around to face him. At least, she thought she was facing him. It was so dark in there that she couldn’t tell. In her angst, she’d turned so many times that she wasn’t a hundred percent sure where she was on the bed.

But when he spoke again, she could tell his face was so close to hers.

Close enough to kiss…

“You don’t have to be sorry, little one. But you need to settle down. You have a big day tomorrow. And I know you’ll want to have fun with your friends. Rest up so you have plenty of energy.”

She nodded, even though she knew he couldn’t see it.

Not wanting him to worry, she said, “I’m not scared. I can go to sleep.”

“I know you aren’t afraid,” he replied with an amused quality to his tone.

“How do you know that? I saw a ghost.”

“Honey, Daddies can tell when it comes to their sweet girls.”

Cami nearly gasped. Was he saying what she thought he was saying? There was no way!

It sure sounded like he was implyinghewasherDaddy.

But there was just no way that was possible.

The bed shifted under her and she figured he was getting up. A moment later, the lamp flipped on and he faced her, propping himself up on an elbow.

“Do you need Daddy to make you feel good, sweetie? So you can get some rest?”

This time Cami couldn’t keep from gasping.
