Good riddance.

I stare at Isa as she sits awkwardly with thisbastardoin the corner of the café. There’s no laughter this time. Good.

I can’t zoom the café’s camera in on her without drawing attention, but I don’t need to. It’s like I have tunnel vision, seeing only her.

I let you have your little taste of normal, farfalla.

I let you smile for someone else.

Let them think they can have you. Let them try.

But they never will.

You’re mine, Isa.

I’m always there with you. Don’t mistake my silence for absence.

I swear it won’t be long now.

You are mine alone.

My heart beats only for you, and I know yours still beats for me.

I’m a part of your soul, bound to you as you are to me. No time, no distance will ever sever that.

No matter who sits across from you, Isa, it’s me you belong to. It’s always me.

The ringing of my phone makes me turn away from the monitors.I get up to get it, content I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.

Now, my butterfly just needs to be a good girl a little longer, until I make her mine again.

Chapter Twenty-Four

Isabella

Anger still simmering, my fingers curl around my cup like it’s to blame. I avoid looking at Andrea. It’s not his fault Plan NUPTIAL has had a setback.

I glance around the café to distract myself. And that’s when I see him.

A man is tucked deep into the corner by the far wall, almost hidden from sight. Yet the sunlight still finds him, catching the edge of his jaw.

Sapphire-blue eyes. Confident posture. That faint smirk that could easily be mistaken for charm or danger. It’s probably both.

Sebastian.

My heart lurches so hard it stutters. Heat flushes my cheeks and climbs down my neck like wildfire.

He meets my gaze. And… winks.

Oh god.

What is he doing here?

This doesn’t seem like his kind of place. The high-end restaurant where we first met, sure. But this quaint little café?

What are the chances?
