Hudson, Six Months Later

“Ready?”I ask as we stand in the hall, the crowd roaring.

Tonight is game one of the Stanley Cup finals.

And we’re here because of the woman standing next to me.

Diana Connors is well on her way to being a fucking legend.

And she’s all mine.

“Do you think Ernest is okay?”she murmurs, teeth nibbling at the corner of her mouth.

I know Ernest is okay.

Because he’s sitting up in the owner’s box alongside Jean-Michel, Chrissy (and Chrissy and Rome’s daughter Jessie), Rory, Jo and Quinn, Attie, and Smitty and Kailey.

The last because DeeDee did some poaching.

Kailey has brought her scouting goodness to the Eagles.

She’s not just ours—the Grizzlies make a claim, along with the Breakers—but she’s still ours.

So fight us for it.

So yeah, Kailey’s here and Smitty and his booming voice.

The Grizzlies didn’t make it to the finals.All five of the top teams in the conference—us, the Gold, the Sierra, the Vipers, and the aforementioned Grizzlies had a brutal battle leading up the playoffs.Ok, well really, it was all six since the Hawks brought some serious intensity thanks to their captain, Ace Ambrose.

Points were close.

Series were intense.

And eventually the Sierra ended up knocking the Grizzlies out.

We inched out our series against the Hawks by the skin of our teeth.
