“Maybe we should go somewhere,” she says softly, echoing my thoughts.
“What are you thinking?”
“Renting a car maybe.We can go and see the rest of the island.”
“I’ll find out if we can.”
She smiles brightly and claps her hands.“I read that there is a waterfall.”
Her enthusiasm is infectious, and I can’t help but smile.
“Alistair!”I turn to see Luke and Abby heading our way with Laine and Hailey in tow.“What are you guys up to?”
He looks from me to his little sister and I feel a stab of betrayal.He would kill me if he knew where my lips were less than an hour ago.
“Ali said if I behave he might take me to see the waterfall,” Skye says, shoving my shoulder.“I probably won’t behave and he’ll still take me.”
Hailey laughs, shaking her head.“Yeah, we know.”
Everyone laughs.Luke pulls me aside while the girls talk about everything they want to see on the island before they leave.
“You don’t have to babysit Skye.She’s a big girl,” he says once we’re out of earshot.“You should be having fun, meeting a pretty girl, and getting laid.”
I shake my head, wishing he would stop talking.I already feel guilty as it is.Not that it will stop me from what I’m doing.
“You know I don’t sleep around,” I say with the stiffest smile I’ve ever smiled.“Besides, you know I don’t mind spending time with Skye.At least I keep her out of trouble.Mostly.”
Luke chuckles.“Yeah.Mostly.”
“Go enjoy your honeymoon and stop worrying about the rest of us.You only get to do this once.”
Luke slaps me on the back and walks back to the group.I stare at them as he hugs Skye and I actually feel nauseated.The damn guilt for doing what I’m doing and for lying to him is fucking killing me.
“I got us a rental,” Skye says once I rejoin the group.“We have it for the whole week and I picked up a bunch of pamphlets with sites for us to see and things for us to do.”
Luke shakes his head but mercifully he doesn’t say anything.
“We should all do dinner tonight!”Abby says excitedly.“We can go to the seafood restaurant in the main building.”
Everyone agrees and even I give a nod.I sure as fuck don’t want to do this, but I can’t say no.
