Those beautiful eyes stay on mine as she slips two of her fingers inside me. As she curls them just right against my sensitive insides, and laps at my throbbing outsides, I wonder if waiting eighty years for this wasn’t such a bad deal after all.

“You taste like bubblegum,” Delia says with a grin as her fingers work inside me. Her tongue flicks over the ring on her lip. “Such a sweet girl.”

“Sweet?” I saybreathlessly as I writhe below her. “I’m a goddamn Wonder Belle.”

I grab a fistful of her hair and push her face back between my legs. Her laugh vibrates against me as she goes back to licking enthusiastically. Very soon after, I’m shouting her name as I come. My back and feet arch so hard I think I may have permanent creases in my paper. I love every second of it.

“Oh my god, Delia, that was amazing. You’re amazing. How was that even possible? My mind feels like—I can’t even—” I pause as I watch her rise to her knees.

A concerned look overtakes Delia as she pulls stringy, stretchy, pink stuff from her face and hands. It’s stuck on there pretty good and it’s unfortunately clear what it is.

“We have another bubblegum situation.”

“Did that—that didn’t—” I scramble to sit up and try to get a look, but I’m in an awkward position on these pillows. “That didn’t come from me, did it?”

“Yeah, it did. When you—you know—,” Delia says with a cockylittle grin, “came all over my face. Which was pretty fucking hot, by the way. Totally worth the clean-up, Bubbles.”

“It’s still embarrassing.”That better not become a nickname.I run my hand between my legs to check for damage to my paper, but find myself clear of the sticky mess. “Oh, well that’s good. It didn’t stick to me. Seems strange that it wouldn’t stick to paper of all things.”

“Hmm. I’m assuming it’s something magic related, but honestly, I don’t understand that stuff.” Delia takes some kind of moist cloth out of a crinkly package and begins to scrub at the gum on her face and hands.

“Same here. Ghostlight Falls was a lot smaller back in my time, and a lot more isolated. The only people that lived here needed to be here to hide or chose to be here because of who they are. Like me.” I look around Delia’s room as I carefully try to tug my underwear back on without ripping them. “Delia, why are you in Ghostlight Falls?”

“My family moved here when I was a baby. I like it here, so I don’t plan on moving if I don’t have to.” She vigorously rubs the last bit of gum off of her fingers, tosses the cloth intoher trash can, and pulls another out to work on her face some more. “I’m fully human, and so is my mom, but my dad’s not. Well, he was. He got bitten by a weregorilla. He found out about this place and moved us here.”

“Well, I’m glad he did. Moved you, that is. The gorilla bit is unfortunate.”

“Weregorilla. Totally different.” Delia laughs.

“My apologies.”

“I think I’m ready for bed once I get this off, if you are. We have a lot to look forward to tomorrow.” She tosses that wipe into the trash and grabs another one.

“I agree. I’m ready for the future.”

Chapter Six

Delia

Icalled in sick. Thankfully, Brigley’s part-time secretary took the message. That’s a win for sure. Now I just have to creep around town and not get caught by the scary murderer. It’s fine, I’m not freaking out at all. Except when I am. I’m hiding it though, for Pearl’s sake.

After we woke up, got ready, had a quick breakfast—we’ve figured out Pearl doesn’t need to eat, but she sure likes snacking—and cleaned out a mysteriously furry microwave, we set out into town for Sheet-y Stationary.

The problem is the store doesn’t stay put. The building has a tendency to get up and go at any moment. So, we need to ask the town map. We head to the visitors’ center so I can find Mappy and ask him. Mappy has the location ofevery place in town on his body, and it updates in real time. Wherever Sheet-y is, he’ll know.

As suspected, when we turn the corner, he’s standing out front in his little booty shorts, flexing his muscles for all the passersby. I sigh and shake my head as I approach him. You gotta love the town himbo.

“Heya, Mappy. I’m looking for Sheet-y. Any help?”

He raises an eyebrow and inspects his nails. I cross my arms over my chest. We always do this.

“What’s in it for me?” he asks as he shifts back on his bare feet.

“The joy of friendship,” I reply with a marked lack of enthusiasm.

Mappy leans forward and pinches my cheek.

“Such a charmer.” He notices Pearl standing behind me and winks at her. “I do love athletic women.”
