"What? I didn't say it was bad. You're adorable but it's sickening. Especially for those of us who don't have anyone to love us like you love each other."
Drew raised an eyebrow at Yaya. "Are you trying to say you want to date again, Yaya? Because that can be arranged."
"Don't be silly. How could I possibly date when I can't leave this house."
Drew shrugged. "I didn't have to leave the house to fall in love."
"Correction," she said. "You didn't need to leave the bedroom to fall in love."
Drew gasped and I laughed out loud.
"What? Where is the lie?" she asked.
Drew didn't dignify that with an answer and instead snatched the letter from Yaya's hand.
"They sent another one?" he asked and pulled the postcard from inside.
"Yeah. They're in Japan. We should drop by," Yaya said and Drew passed the postcard to me.
It was a picture of Ani and Gene surrounded by cherry blossoms and on the back it read:We're having a blast. I'm getting so much inspiration for my next project and Ani has made friends with some Shinigami, Japanese death spirits, and they hang out a lot, judging dead people, helping them into the afterlife and stuff. Hope to see you all soon. Gene x.
"Sounds like they're having a great time," I said.
Gene and Ani had grown closer and closer since we rescued them. They weren't getting married any time soon, they were far too young—well, Gene was—and I agreed with Yaya but whether they made it official or not, we all knew those two were meant for each other just like Drew and I were meant to be together.
"Exactly, so let's not ruin it by showing up unannounced," Drew said and Yaya frowned.
"We're family. We're never unannounced," she said.
"That's what you said last time and now I've got my brother and his boyfriend screwing imprinted in my brain."
I chuckled and Yaya slapped Drew's chest dismissively.
It hadn't been our fault we'd walked in on them. That was Spiti's fault, not that it would ever take responsibility for being cheeky like that.
"Oh before I forget, Loki called," Yaya said. "He said he needs your help with a case."
I kissed Yaya's cheek and thanked her before she retreated back into the house.
"Your eyes lit up," Drew smirked.
He knew me so well. There was nothing I enjoyed more than helping people in need, just like Drew. Only I'd found a different way to do it. One that suited my style more. I wasn't a potion maker, but I was a fighter. Maybe I hadn’t been a great one but I’d learned my lessons, I’d freshened up on my skills and with my bottomless vial of sand I could walk into any situation and command it without fail. Loki and Fenrir were warriors too and we’d all been through so much. But that was exactly why we made a good team.
And with our help, we made sure no witch, human, or Nightcrawler suffered. It was a tall task, but what better job for a bunch of gods?
"You know I love you, right?" I said.
His eyes narrowed. "You're bailing on date night, aren't you?"
I pouted. "I'm sorry. I'll try to be back ASAP."
Drew rolled his eyes as I kissed him but he smiled when I let go. "Go on. Go save somebody, my hero."
"Thank you, my king."
The view outside the storefront changed back to London and I opened the door to join my teammates.
"You'll pay for this," he shouted behind me.
