There were no more words that needed to be said, so I grabbed my little people, kissed Ms. Phyllis goodbye, and bounced.
Kehlani was still asleep when we got back to the house so I got the twins settled and went to the kitchen to figure out what we were all going to eat. The twins had eaten at my pops’ crib, but I knew they would want some more shit soon and I was starving.
I frowned hard as hell seeing that we didn’t have shit in the crib that I could make. Everything we had was meant to be cooked by Kehlani. Hell, we barely had shit that I could put in the oven for the kids and I knew that I wouldn’t be full from a frozen pizza.
Closing the fridge, I pulled my phone from my pocket and called Ms. Phyllis so she could pull up on me. I needed her to cook this shit and I needed her to help me get Jocey bathed and shit too. I loved baby girl just like she came from my nut sack, but I wasn’t comfortable giving her a bath. Hell, when I had a biological daughter I wasn’t going to be washing her ass up, so I needed help.
Ms. Phyllis rushed over to help a nigga out. She helped me get the kids together and cooked dinner while I cleaned and shit. That was the least that I could do. She had all the hard shit and I didn’t want Lani doing shit when she finally got up.
“Mommy!” Jocey and Si screeched and hopped out of their chairs to rush to their mother.
“Hey, my babies.” She beamed down at them then at Ms. Phyllis before going over to hug her. “You didn’t need to come cook and clean, I could’ve gotten up.”
She looked better than she had earlier when I saw her, but her face was still flushed. I don’t know what was going on withher, but she was two seconds from the doctor because me and the kids didn’t want or need whatever the fuck she had going on.
“It was nothing, baby,” Ms. Phyllis replied. “Plus, your husband was about to starve, so when he told me you were sick and in bed, I came running. Are you feeling better?”
“I am, thank you.” Lani nodded. “Thank you for this too.”
“Girl, hush.” She waved the drying towel that she was holding at Kehlani. “Are you sure you’re okay though? You look a little pale. Javyous said you haven’t eaten and you’ve been throwing up.”
Kehlani looked my way at the mention of my name. I blew her a kiss when we locked eyes and she rolled hers. She called herself still having an attitude, but I had a trick for that later tonight. I had business to attend to first with her ass.
“Come holla at me right quick, Lani.”
I’d stood and started for the steps, but she was still planted in place.
“I just got up. I need to see the kids and Ms. Phyllis.”
“Naw, you need to bring your ass up these steps like I said. The kids and Ms. Phyllis will be right here when we’re done talking.”
I could see it in her face that she wanted to resist, but Ms. Phyllis stepped in and encouraged her to bring her ass like I said. I had some shit that I needed to do, so her attitude meant nothing to me. Plus, I wasn’t about to be beefing with my wife about some irrelevant hoes.
Once we made it upstairs to the room and I closed the door, I reached over and pulled her body into mine. I leaned in to kiss her and she turned her head, causing the kiss to fall on her cheek.
“Give me a fucking kiss,” I commanded.
“No, move, JV,” she argued, turning her head from side to side to avoid my lips.
Growing impatient, I gripped her chin and forced a kiss on her lips. As hard as she tried to act, she melted into me and slipped her tongue into my mouth. We stood there kissing nastily before I finally broke it.
“You must be trying to get fucked.” I smirked then laughed when she shoved me. “Naw, here. Take this shit.”
She was eyeing my hand like it was covered in shit.
“Here.”
“What is that?”
“A pregnancy test.” I frowned because she knew damn well what it was.
“I know that.” She rolled her eyes. “What is it for?”
“For you to piss on it, Lani, stop acting stupid.”
“I know how to use a pregnancy test, dumbass, what did you buy it for?” she sassed.
“Because you been sick as a mothafucka. I told Ms. Phyllis how you been throwing up and shit, so she suggested this.” I shrugged. “And shit, a nigga been shooting your shit up like a gun range, so you might be.”
