Riku took a step closer. The piece was black with inset red rubies. Gorgeous. “That is pretty. I like the way it shimmers.” He still didn’t give in, though.
A book appeared in Lucifer’s other hand. “Then maybe this.”
“Shut up.” Riku rushed across the room and crawled onto Lucifer’s lap. He eyed the book. “I didn’t even know a new one in the series had released.”
A sexy laugh rumbled from Lucifer. “That’s why you have me. Your pleasure is always mine.” His voice was pure temptation, luring Riku to his wildest dreams.
Riku met Lucifer’s stare. He knew he had to look as dewy-eyed as he felt. Adoration filled him to overflowing. To be known and loved the way Lucifer knew and loved him was priceless. “Thank you.” He settled against Lucifer’s chest. After putting on the ring, he gently tugged one of Lucifer’s wings to cover him—like settling in with a blanket. Riku rubbed the feathers. “Tell me about your day.”
“Tease.”
Riku forced his hands still. He always forgot how hot playing with Lucifer’s wings made him. “Sorry. Go ahead.”
Lucifer kissed his head. “No. No apologies. I want your touch.”
Riku’s eyes fell closed. He took a deep breath. The smell of marshmallows cooking over a campfire filled his nose. There was no way he could have known that his heaven existed in Hell. Everyday, he prayed for more, even though his prayers weren’t heard here.
“I hear your prayers.”
Riku’s throat swelled at the whispered words. Sometimes, emotions choked him when he least expected it. He had spent so long fighting the biggest blessing he ever received, he didn’t always know how to handle the enormity of it. Never again. Riku had found his home. He wouldn’t budge.
