“Problematic?” Victor looked up from his desk and cocked an eyebrow at his brother and waited for a more detailed explanation.

"The owner recently rented out the main house. He wants us to work with the tenants regarding schedules and needs as we complete the job of installing a two-car garage and an attached workshop on the back acre. We will need access and use of the utilities, etc." Ari continued with his usual long explanation.

“So, what’s the problem?” Victor pushed.

“The tenants do not have a land line, cell phone unknown, and they don’t respond to messages left on their door.” Ari got to the point.

“Send Toni over before seven in the morning or after nine at night and have him wait until he can contact them.” It seemed easy enough to Victor.

“I tried that, and they ignore him and do not answer the door. You’d think they were part of a witness protection program the way they duck and avoid.”

“Try the landlord.”

“Out of the country for the next two months.”

"Screw permission, tap into their utilities and just go forward with the build. If they have a problem, they'll contact us." Victor considered the situation for a moment and then added. "Put a notice on their door alerting them of the work taking place and the hours and leave it at that."

"On it." Ari left and closed the door behind him with a loud click. Victor ran the company alongside his two brothers, Ari and Edgar. The rest of the staff and laborers were all Pack members. Victor only hired Pack, because it made life easier when you didn't have to hide who you were. He had nothingagainst humans they just seemed to complicated things and Victor preferred no complications.

“They’re still coming around,” Shane told Benjy over breakfast. “The guys you recognized as wolves, they’re still coming to the door and leaving messages,” Shane explained further.

Benjy wasn’t sure what they wanted, but he was sure they shouldn’t get involved with them. “I can’t imagine that they know who we are. I’m cloaking my scent, and you don’t carry the wolf scent, but with that said, I don’t like having any contact with wolves.”

“No, me neither.” Shane agreed as he put his dishes in the sink and grabbed his book bag off the floor. “I’m going to be late tonight, probably midnight at the earliest. I have a lot of makeup work since I started my classes a week late.” Benjy nodded his understanding as he followed Shane to the front door.

“Just be careful and avoid the wolves.” He said pointedly.

“I always do.” He assured.

As he was leaving, Benjy noticed another message taped to their door. He quickly scanned the note and instantly groaned. “What is it?” Shane tried to take the note.

"They're a construction company, and they're building a structure on the back acre. They will be using the utilities and the driveway until the job is completed. Oh, isn't that just great?" He crumpled the note in his fist.

"We'll just stay out of their way." Shane seemed relieved. "At least they aren't looking for us, and they don't know who we are, so that's good, right?" Benjy nodded but wasn't so sure how good things really were.

He said goodbye and went back to the kitchen and looked out onto the large backyard. They would be showing up today, and it bothered Benjy enough that he considered looking for another rental. They should be able to get out of the lease, considering they had been unaware of the construction pending before signing.

Benjy managed to avoid the men in the yard as he ducked out quickly, grabbed his bike, and took off for work. He wasn't looking forward to dodging these men for the next few weeks. He liked his privacy and anonymity, neither of which he had while the Wolves finished their construction project in his backyard.

Victor stopped by the Fenton job on his way to dinner to check on the progress and the situation with the tenants. He wasn't dressed for a get-down-and-dirty job, but he could eyeball the scene and ensure all was going well. He was dressedin a suit and tie because he was meeting friends at Sparrow's Landing.

It wasn't his favorite restaurant by far, but Jared and his wife Marie loved the place. Jared had also invited his sister Gail, whom Victor considered a good friend and a pleasant dinner companion. Victor was often seen with Gail when he wanted people to leave him alone and not find him a mate. Gail was a good sport and played along.

Edgar met him at the site and explained that the tenants continued to avoid them, and it didn't seem to be a problem. "Well, good then, I guess. If they have a problem, they'll have to tell us otherwise; don't bother them." Victor would rather have had an understanding with the renters, but he had a job to do.

He finished with Edgar and headed back to his car in the driveway, but as he was rounding the corner of the ranch house, he noticed an article of clothing on the ground. He reached down and picked up the t-shirt, then went to toss it onto the porch. However, he suddenly pressed it to his face and took a deep breath. The smell was rather nice considering the shirt had been abandoned on the ground for who knows how long.

He looked at the cotton tee and smiled as he tossed it onto the porch. Whoever owned that shirt had impeccable taste in cologne. He jogged to his car and hurried to the restaurant. He was running a bit late, but Jared wasn’t a stickler for punctuality.

Benjy was very busy and had little time to even consider daydreaming. It was Friday night, and the place was packed, but that also meant great tips. Benjy grabbed the house wine and headed to his next table, a group of four, two men and two women.

He rounded the edge of the table and froze for a moment when his eyes fell on the magnificent specimen of masculinity that was seated there. Never had Benjy laid eyes on a more attractive man than the one sitting there with... a woman at his side.

Damn, all the great ones were straight. He went through the usual greetings and kept glancing at the handsome man with shiny black hair, a square jaw, and a body that was solid muscle. The others at the table made their drink and appetizer requests, but the Adonis had not spoken yet, so Benjy asked him directly for his drink preference.
