"You're coming home with me." It was then that Benjy began to fight again to get away, flailing his arms and legs to gain release. Victor swept his legs up into his arms and held him secure to his body so that Benjy was unable to move. "Be still." It was not a request.

"You don't want me. Why are you doing this?" Benjy began to plead again. Begging had worked often enough with his old Alpha. Alphas loved to hear their people beg it gave them such a sense of power and control.

"Enough," Victor stated and stared down into his mate's frightened blue eyes. "The only place I ever want to hear you beg me, is in our bedroom, nowhere else, ever." That statement had Benjy swallowing his pleas and staring up at the man who held him. This Alpha was unlike any other Benjy had ever met. This Alpha was strong and powerful yet also appeared understanding and respectful.

Victor did not say another word as he carried Benjy back to the rental house. Benjy noticed the Alpha acknowledged the workers and wondered about their relationship but assumed they were part of the Pack.

He carried him into the living room and placed him on the sofa in a sitting position. He bent and put another light kiss on Benjy's lips, before going into the kitchen and dragging a straight back kitchen chair in front of Benjy and sitting down. There was space between them, but not enough for Benjy to even think about running.

CHAPTER THREE

Victor sat back, crossed his arms over his chest, and stared at the beautiful little Omega wolf that was his mate. "Tell me why you fear me." He said, and then the silence fell upon the room. The only sound was that of Benjy's ragged breathing and his occasional cough.

It had taken a few moments before Benjy gathered the courage to answer truthfully. "You're an Alpha." His voice was soft but clear, and he did not look at the wolf, he kept his eyes on his hands that were knotted in his lap.

"My name is Victor Rios, and I am Alpha of the Sparrow Ridge Pack. What have you done that would warrant an Alpha's punishment?" Victor watched as Benjy took a quick glance up but then lowered his eyes again just as quickly. He caught the confusion, mixed with a still-simmering fear and a glimmer of hope, in those lovely blue eyes.

He felt his desire for the little man, his mate, growing by the moment, but fought to keep his wolf under control, for now. He thought he wasn't ready to take care of a mate, but as he satthere looking at Benjy, he knew that he was more than ready to be everything Benjy needed. Benjy belonged to him, and he was thrilled with the gift that Fate had given. For now, though, Benjy needed to be handled carefully, and things needed to be worked out before he could fully enjoy his newly found mate.

"I'm a male Omega; no Alpha wants such an abomination as their mate." As he spoke, Victor began to understand the issues Benjy was facing and wanted to put his mind at ease.

"My Pack has no issue with sexual orientation. My Pack has no issue with Omegas or humans or other paranormals we honor, respect, and love what Fate gives to us.” Victor paused for a second and then continued. “Who told you that you were an abomination?” Victor dropped his arms to lean them on his thighs as he bent forward towards Benjy, considerably decreasing the distance between them.

Benjy tried to lean backward, but the sofa back would allow very little retreat. "Every wolf I ever met, except my father. My father was a Beta wolf, and my mother was human. My brother took after my mother and is basically human. Shane cannot shift, and I am a male Omega. Things were always uncomfortable in our Pack, but the real abuse started after our parents died."

He watched the Alpha, Victor Rios, to see if he understood, but the man kept a steely expression on his face as he listened. "Once father wasn't there to protect us, the Pack became abusive. The night we ran, a death squad had beenorganized to purge what they called the disgusting half breeds from the Pack."

“Your Alpha order you killed?” Victor was shocked that two innocents would be ordered exterminated for something they had no control over.

"Yes, but only if we stayed, if we ran, I was pretty sure he wouldn't pursue us." Benjy felt himself relaxing little by little as the Alpha's voice calmed him and asked him questions; it was a strange feeling but not unwelcome. He was beginning to feel the stirring of desire brought on by their growing bond. "We settled here because I thought it was safe, and Shane could go to the Community College. It seemed like we’d be okay until I saw you at the restaurant.”

Victor gave an indulgent smile of understanding. "I recognized you, too, or rather, my wolf did. I couldn't get you out of my mind, and I couldn't understand why until I entered this house. Your scent is intoxicating." He pressed his nose into Benjy's throat, took a deep breath, and groaned as he exhaled. "I'm not your old Alpha, and my Pack is not your old Pack. You and your brother will have a home here." He assured the young wolf.

The need to calm his mate and make him feel safe in Victor's Pack was overwhelming. This was his mate, the one man he had waited all these years to find, and he could not lose him. Every part of his being was compelling Victor to claim and protect his most precious gift.

Benjy wanted to believe him, but his experience with Alphas was that they lie when it suits them. His old Alpha had promised them a place in the Pack after their father had died but made their mother's life miserable to the end. After that, he and Shane had a steady diet of verbal abuse and physical assaults until they finally ran. The Alpha and his son, Greg, had turned the entire Pack against them, calling them bad luck, vile, and a drain on Pack resources, none of which were true.

This man, Victor Rios, was his mate, and his wolf ached to submit and beg for his attention, but would he survive after the Alpha took what he wanted? He'd submitted to Greg and given him all he asked for, only to be reviled and driven from his home in the end. Greg was with the squad that was tasked with their extermination. He would have killed him and Shane if they hadn’t gotten away. How could he trust this man, this Alpha, Victor Rios?

Victor sensed the change in Benjy's demeanor and reacted immediately by moving forward and cupping his cheek in the palm of his hand. "I am not your old Alpha I am Victor Rios, your mate." He clarified this once again while trying to hold Benjy's gaze as he kept dodging away.

"I don't know what you went through with your old Pack, but I assure you that your life here with me will be as close to perfect as I can make it. You are the Alpha's mate and you will want for nothing." Benjy looked at him directly for the first time, and Victor's heart broke as the tears began to fall again.

Benjy tried to stop them, but the emotion, combined with the mate pull and the fear, erupted in a flood of tears. The Alpha caressed his cheek, comforting him with his touch and his concern. This man was different he could feel it. His wolf ached to take the support he was offering, but then . . . what? Benjy leaned into the touch and turned his head to brush his lips across Victor's palm. The scent and the taste of his mate soothed his anxious wolf but it was so dangerous to trust.

Victor took the opportunity to move and sit beside Benjy, gradually easing him onto Victor's lap. The wolf was so small, just a wisp of a man, but so beautiful from his elegant hands to his aquiline nose, he was pure perfection. Victor held him in his arms, tight to his chest, conveying the sincerity of his pledge. "You're mine, Benjy, all mine.” He stated his ownership softly against Benjy’s ear as he touched his lips to the soft curve of his neck.

Benjy felt the Alpha’s desire hard and urgent pressing against him. He had the urge to move and grind himself against that hardness and demand more. As it was, he tilted his head to give the Alpha more room to explore. His kisses were magical and took away the fierce anxiety of being in the presence of such a powerful wolf.

It was inevitable that, as an Omega, he could not withstand the pull of an Alpha and definitely not the pull of his mate. Whatever Victor planned for him, Benjy felt helpless to prevent, and as moments passed, all he wanted was fulfillment. Benjy shook as he reached up and threaded his fingers through Victor's silky dark hair.

Victor took what the young man was offering and moved his hands to roam the smooth tight body on his lap. His lips tasted the sumptuous skin of his neck and shoulder, nearly driving him to throw the man on the sofa and take him, at once. Each moment that passed was one of incredible restraint.

His wolf was anxious and demanding as his human half took the care necessary to woo their mate. Benjy was hurt and scared, and being too aggressive would not get him his end desire. He understood that much, even with the wild tumult of emotions roaring through his system.

Benjy buried his face in Victor's shoulder and held on tight, just needing the grounding the big man was giving. It was so stupid; he knew that, but he couldn't deny himself a moment of comfort even if it did come at a hefty price. Victor tightened his hold and dropped a kiss on the top of Benjy's head. "You're safe, little one, don't be afraid."

Whatever happened to Benjy at his last Pack escalated a rage inside Victor. He wanted to find the Alpha who turned his beautiful mate into a terrified child and show him personally how it feels to be abused and assaulted. If any of those assholes ever dared to come near Benjy again, it would be the very last thing they did in this life.
