“Don’t worry about it. Just don’t give me shit about not working out until next month.”

Spence was back in view. He held his keys up and did a head nod toward the door. I was grateful for my buddy. I needed someone to drive because if I did, I would be getting a speeding ticket for sure.

We hopped into his SUV, and I confessed all my fears to him.

Chapter 35

Siobhan

When I saw Carter pull into my driveway, I sighed in relief. I didn’t care that there were bodyguards and police around me, going through the footage and trying to see if any other evidence was left behind besides the very destroyed package. I needed my rock and my protector.

Someone who didn’t think less of me if I turned into a bundle of tears. Someone who would be more than willing to make me forget about everything by eating me out in a way no other man could.

The moment he rushed into the house through the garage door, I ran into his arms. His strong embrace enveloped me, and his lips brushed against my forehead.

“I’m so glad you’re okay," Carter said.

His voice was so damn rough. He held his arms out slightly, and his eyes swept over my body, but I moved toward him again. I needed his warmth.

I leaned in and kissed him.

Our solace was broken by a gruff, “Ahem.”

Both of us looked over Carter’s shoulder. Next to him was his best friend and former roommate. He looked uncomfortable as he pointed next door to the hero of the hour’s house. “I’m going to hang with Hallsy. Now, I know you’re probably going to want to stay here, but let me know if you want a ride home.”

It was nice that Spencer came along too. It didn’t take a genius to see that Suzuki had driven Carter over. I just didn’t know if it was because they carpooled to the gym together or if Carter was so freaked out by the news that it wasn’t safe for him to drive over.

Carter fist bumped his friend, and Spencer headed out the door. When he was gone, Carter pulled me close again, and I went back to melting into my love so I didn’t have to pretend to be strong for a few minutes.

Then I realized something. I never told him that anything happened. I hadn’t had time to say anything since the police and Lou kept asking me more and more questions.

What if?

No. I already had the stray thought that it could be Russell, and that was unlikely enough. It seemed completely inconceivable that it could be Carter. Russell was an asshole, and he was just unhinged enough to think that if I buckled from the stress, I might go back to him. Carter, on the other hand, was too pure-hearted. I couldn’t see him trying to scare me like this.

But if he didn’t do it, then it could mean another awful situation. It was leaked to the tabloids, and the paparazzi would be hanging out at my house.

Well, hopefully, it was just the paps and not any of the local news crews.

“How did you know something happened and I would be here?” I asked.

His hands moved up and down my arms. “Hallsy called me, and I came as soon as I heard.”

I should have known. Hallsy was his teammate, so of course he would tell Carter.

It was a relief to know that it hadn’t hit the presses yet. But it made me more concerned that Russell might have had a hand in today’s debacle. As the police said, there was no evidence that it could be Russell. Just suspicions.

Firebomb Found at the Shady Oaks Actress’ Place

By: Suzie Q

June 20th

Siobhan Leary can’t catch a break thanks to her stalker, and it appears things have been escalating with a firebomb delivery.

As you may remember, thanks to her stalker, the daughter she shares with Russell Richardson went to live with him after there was a break-in. Between the A-list actor’s busy schedule and nothing happening to Siobhan Leary for some time, theirdaughter returned to spending much of her time with her mother.

Thankfully, no one was hurt by the firebomb. The child was still at school, and one of the hockey players who helped to clean Siobhan’s house found it. It’s unclear if Siobhan is still with Carter Carmichael, the Vancouver Legacy captain, or if she’s moved on to a different hockey player. Guess we have to see who helps her out after this attack.
