“You’re an Omega, what are you doing not hiding your scent,” a girl asked, leaning slightly forward with her hands behind her. I had to turn my head down to peer into her gaze. She grinned up at me, approachable. Nice.

I squinted at her and swept my gaze around the bathroom.

“Don’t worry, I checked if anyone was here before I asked,” she said, lowering her voice a few octaves. “I’m Evie,” she added, smiling wide. Her eyes glinted with happiness and mischief, one eye dark brown and the other a lighter hazel color.

I licked my lips, on the fence on whether I should take off running. My wolf remained on edge, but she stayed back. Evie gripped the straps of the small sage-colored backpack.

I’d never seen coloring like hers. Her skin was a shade tanner than mine and there was a tuft of white hair framing one side of her face among the rest of her straight, dark hair.

“I’m not a murderer or anything.”

I snorted.

Well, that was good to know. My shoulders relaxed at her use of humor.

“I’m an Omega.”

That was probably more shocking than anything else. I fished out my cell phone and rapidly texted. I inhaled deeply and frowned.

You don’t smell like one. She only smelled of something sweet, but I couldn’t pinpoint the exact scent. More important, I didn’t scent her Omega, yet my wolf was on edge, the same way she reacted when around other werewolves. I lifted it to her and understanding flashed in her gaze as she caught on quickly. Omegas were pinpointed through scent.

I worried being found by other werewolves, but the need to know who was trying to kill me overpowered my concern. It wasn’t like I wasn’t taking precautions though. Kit swept through the airport before I came in to make sure there were no other werewolves. Looked like he was just as thrown by the lack of scent coming from the girl in front of me.

“A recipe was passed down in my family. My cousin used to make it and she taught me a long time ago when we were kids. Itreallycame in handy,” she muttered the last bit. “Actually, do you want some? Because, let me tell you, you best hide your Omega unless you want to be someone’s toy or breeding factory.”

She unhooked the strap from her shoulder and pulled out a small vial similar to perfume testers.

She held it out. “Make sure to drink the whole thing. It should last around a week and a half. It tastes like shit, though, so I recommend pouring it in coffee or tea.”

I believed her more by the second, but honestly, the possibility of it being true was too much of a temptation. Peering into her gaze, I held it. She seemed guileless. Damn it, I hoped I wasn’t wrong. I uncapped it and chugged it. A bitterness coated my tongue and I gagged. Forcing myself to suck it up, I swallowed until the taste was gone.

“Damn girl, you’re wild. I did that once and threw up.”

“You’re not from here?”I showed her the phone. It was more of a prompt to get her to tell me where she was from because it was obvious she’d traveled here and she also had no sort of accent.

“Canada. I just came down to get a breather from my stifling pack.” Her cell rang and she pulled it out of her pocket and silenced it. Her button nose twitched. “It’s already working.”

Her phone rang again, and she sighed with exasperation.

“I turn it on foronesecond,” she muttered, and the light flicked off before she shoved it back into her backpack and tugged it over her shoulders. “I have to go because I don’t doubt my dad already has people searching for me, and I wanted to see a bit of the city before I’m dragged back to my godforsaken pack, but text me your address and I’ll mail you some.”

She took my phone, fiddled with it, and handed it back.

Thank you, I mouthed.

“We Omegas have to stick together.” She started out of the restroom.

I was a few feet behind her when she yelped and froze. My boobs smacked into her backpack. Rowan stared down at her with an angry glint in his eyes. His head lowered, long hair falling across his cheeks as he stalked forward. He looked like some long-haired, vengeful god come to life.

So,Rowanfollowed me. I sighed and pulled her behind me and put my hand on his chest.

With a hard shake of my head, I dug my fingers into his chest. He huffed. I smiled slightly at Evie as she gawked and shuffled away. I put my hand up toward her too and approached her. Poking my finger out, I motioned toward the hairband around her wrist.

“You want it?”

I nodded and she placed it in my outstretched palm.

Thanks again,I mouthed. Rowan growled, making her back up. I could have stolen mine back from Camden, but I kind of liked him wearing it.
