Meridith inched farther and farther away as they neared the door, clutching their pillows over their dicks. Their tipped ears flicked across the top of the doorframe even though they ducked.

Kit lingered outside the door. Camden growled, “Faster we finish. Faster we’re back.”

They disappeared and Meridith exhaled and inched over to me. Rowan paced.

“Same deal, I won’t help her if you get near.”

Rowan bared his teeth and remained on the other side of the room as she perched next to me on the bed.

“We had the pack doctor in here but your mates almost murdered him, so I was sent in his place.” She didn’t sound happy about it. “Lean forward.”

I did as she said. The position hurt like a bitch. Sweet baby werewolf.Ouch.

She reached behind me and the bandage around my chest flexed as she unwound the material.

“Honestly, I don’t think you could have hung on if they hadn’t completed the mating bond.”

I frowned at the comforter. So she was the one with the brilliant idea.

Cool air pricked my skin, and she tugged the rest of the bandage free.

Her finger pressed into my shoulder, and I leaned back. My breasts on full display. She may have been a werewolf for a while, but nudity was still odd for me. I stared down at the open gash on my chest. Yellow surrounded the area. Blood dried around the wound, crusted and dark. It was way too close to my heart. The knife had punctured smack dab between my breasts and the wound was about two inches long.

She zipped open the bag and rifled through before pulling out a tube and some wipes.

“This will sting a bit but try not to move.”

She cleaned off the wound and I focused on not twitching in pain.

“Uh, since we’re here, I just wanted to apologize about what I said before you disappeared. I wasn’t in the best place. I knew how Camden felt about you and it stung.”

I tilted my head questioningly.

“Everyone knew. And if they didn’t, they definitely did after he almost murdered Riley when we were teens. Man, it was a whole thing. Alpha Torrin and Hector worked so hard to bury it. Riley’s dad waspissed.” Murdered him?

He did what? Was that why Riley avoided me after kissing me?

I scoffed, shaking my head. I had no clue.

“Why do you think no one approached you?”

I gawked.

She finished cleaning the wound and pulled a new bandage out. I was officially on auto pilot, still trying to wrap my head around what she said.

Willow

I stared at the ceiling, blinking in a mix of astonishment and anger. No way. Here I thought no guy liked me, and that the one guy who tried coming at me, kissed me and then disappeared. Yes, realistically I didn’t care because I only had eyes for Camden, but it was the principle! The only reason I’d frozen when Riley kissed me was because I was pissed at Camden. All the she-wolves were on his ass when he went through his growth spurt and it was annoying. There would have been nothing between Riley and me anyway, but I couldn’t even address it since he’d avoided me afterwards.

I still had mentioned nothing to Camden because I wasn’t trying to grin like a lunatic when I scolded him. It was a bad look when trying to get him to feel bad.

Unfortunately, I had all the time in the world since I’d hardly seen any of my mates and when I did, they just passed out. They were on some sort of rotation. At first, Rowan remained with me, but he was slowly dragged into whatever was going on outside. Curiosity was killing me, and Meridith wasn’t helpful in giving me information other than mentioning my mates were vicious and she’d hate to see anyone on their bad side.

I wiggled into the bed. Meridith had helped me shower and change into clothes, but my skin itched with the need to see my mates.

I gingerly scooted to the end of the bed and put on my slippers. Poking my head out of the door, I found it empty. Shuffling across the carpet, I followed the path to the door leading outside.

Blood stained various spots throughout the house.
