He didn’t get the hint; his long, wet tongue slipped out and continued laving at my neck.

I wiggled in the tight grip and yanked my head side to side to get away from the tongue. Baring my teeth at him, I met his shadowed eyes. Rowan stared back at me, but his tongue hung outside his mouth as he panted.

The nameless mate’s grip on me tightened and he lifted one of his hands and shoved at Rowan’s chest, which only caused him to budge a little, then rubbed my now clean fur in quick calming strokes.

At the contact, my body shook. I weakened with a simple touch, groaning as I went supine, leaning against his front as he stroked my body with stern swipes.

He reached for the loaf of bread placed on a tray, tore it, and lifted it to my muzzle.

“Sorry, lass. This will have tae do for now. I do nae want you tae sicken.”

I gingerly bit it from his hand and ate the pieces he fed me. I’d torn through most of the loaf when my stomach rebelled so I turned away from the next offer. He lifted a bowl of juice and I lapped the liquid to wash the dry bread down.

Rowan invaded my space and swept his tongue over the fur on my forehead, somehow licking my eye. I grunted and jerked back as I blinked. He praised me. Clicking my teeth near his face didn’t stop him, he just switched to licking my ear. So, I just let it happen.

My eyes fell shut. A moment later, nameless mate burrowed his palm into my fur.

“Skin and bones...” he murmured softly and tsked. I huffed. Despite my fervent effort, my body relaxed as heat sank into my fur. “That’s a good lass.”

The other wolf nudged close, pressing into my free side until I was caged in. I’d never felt so taken care of... Camden came to mind. He was the only other one that made me feel this way. Taken care of, loved. If not by being touched, then by his actions. He was always there for me.

I missed him... but he couldn’t be mine. I could never return to my pack, and now that I’d shifted into my Omega, anyone I cared for would be in danger because of me.

I shouldn’t be in anyone’s life if all I would be is a liability—if I caused people’s deaths.

Swallowing became difficult.

Nameless mate sifted his fingers into my side.

“You’re safe now.”

His calm words soothed my anxiety. I couldn’t rely on it too much. I couldn’t let myself want this.Them. I refused to put anyone in danger.

Willow

“Where doyou think you’re going?”

I froze, wincing. The gray wolf hadn’t budged for the last few hours, in fact, he lay on his back stretched out with his tongue out. The other guy was still and at my side and hadn’t twitched as I’d slowly moved away the last hour.

I huffed. I needed to communicate with him. He needed to get I was a danger to keep around. Did he even understand what me being an Omega meant?

My bet was no.

Inhaling deeply, I sought my human form while pushing my wolf back. As much as you tried, while in wolf form, your primitive side was more at the forefront and the control over it was much shakier. My bones popped as my legs shot out. An uncomfortable burn worked its way through my limbs, and I whimpered at the sensation of pins and needles pricking my skin. It wasn’t a lie that shifting took longer when you first began, extending the time frame elongated the pain.

Tears pushed from the corners of my eyes.

I lay in a panting mess and then the cool air washed over my form, causing my nipples to pebble. My eyes widened. I was laying here withallof it out. Shooting into a sitting position, I tugged the blanket wrapped around me under my arms like you would a towel, pulling it closed in front of me with one hand.

I lifted my chin and met nameless mate’s glazed eyes. Frowning, I snapped my fingers up, getting his attention off my body. He blinked and then cleared his throat.

His eyes met mine and they widened even more. Red worked its way up his neck and to his cheeks as his lips parted.

I pointed at him and mouthed,Name?

He frowned, shaking his head. I repeated the motion.

“My name?”
