I finished washing up and speared my fingers into my hair. This mate stuff was harder than I expected. I tugged the towel off the top of the shower and wrapped myself. Each time I used the shower, there was a fresh one waiting.

It was becoming clear that Kit was a silent giver. He’d just give and give to the point that he came second. I imagined him as a fair pack Alpha.

I trudged back into the room and froze at the threshold. The bed was made and a fresh set of clothing lay on the bed.

There was no longer evidence of the mess I’d made when I’d come in.

I frowned. Even the curtains were drawn back. I lifted the clothes. They were my size. I swallowed, trying to lessen the thickness in my throat. Beside the bundle was a cell phone.

I dressed in the sweater and leggings, then pulled on the thick coat and socks. The cell phone was in a box and the screen flickered on to a battery image when I pressed the button. I pulled out the charger and hunted for a plug until I found one near the large window.

I peeked outside and gawked at the layers of snow blanketing the trees and ground. The way the sun fell over the fresh sheets and glinted in the crystals was gorgeous. I gasped and a giddiness swept through me.

There was never snow where I was from.

I rushed around the bed and tripped, catching myself before I face-planted. Rolling over, I glared at the offending objects—a pair of boots and shoes.

Shoving my feet into the boots, I wiggled my toes. Only alittlebig, but much better than going without. I continued rushing out, zooming past the kitchen.

The cold air slapped me in the face but it felt glorious. My heels sank into the snow with a satisfying crunch. Even though the coat was thick, I could still feel the chill through it. My freezing nose was testament to the weather. I had no doubt it was red.

I stepped forward, eyeing the pile of snow.

“Careful,” a growly voice intoned. I whirled to find Rowan peering at me from near a tree. So, he’d come out here when he’d run off.

In answer, I dipped and grabbed a handful of snow, balling it tightly and then adding another layer until it was a well-sized beast. Rowan tilted his head, watching me.

I positioned and tossed it right at him.

The snow splattered across his chest and dropped to the ground and his head jerked back.

His muzzle opened, showing his fangs from within his maw. The gawking was hilarious on his wolfman face, it was actually kind of cute. I lifted my hand to my mouth to cover myself as I broke out in silent laughter.

Rowan snarled and bounded close, baring his teeth at me in a vicious display. It just set me off harder. He loomed over me and growled warningly, eyes glinting with humor.

I jerked back and grabbed a handful of snow and aimed it at his face. He closed his eyes and I took advantage by tossing myself at him.

Rowan lost his balance and stumbled backward under my attack, then thumped hard into the snow, sending a flurry up around us.

He growled and I scurried off him, kicking up snow. A wicked wolfish grin lifted his muzzle and it looked more like a baring of teeth. He fell to his hands, legs bending easily in his wolfman form, then he used his huge furred hands to dig into the snow, tossing it backward.

I sputtered and put out my hands to ward from the snow attack. No fair, his claws were an advantage.

It was only a few swipes and my legs were half buried. He paused and peered at me. I huffed, pouting as I poked my finger at him and then dragged it across my neck. He was dead meat.

He must have seen the intention in my gaze because his head tipped back and he released a short bark and took off at a sprint.

Dragging my feet out of the pile, I hoofed it after him.

Damn him for being so fast. If these weren’t new clothes, I would have shifted.

I huffed and screeched to a halt to pull my clothing off as his gray tail disappeared in the distance.

The crunchof snow bunched under my paws and my nose was ready to chip off. I couldn’t feel much of anything, but still, I moved forward. I had to. My wolf fueled me with energy I could not muster because I was exhausted. I’d been running on fumes, hardly stopping for anything remotely relating to rest.

When I found her, I would spank her ass until she understood she couldn’t leave my sight. Right after that, I’d bite her all over to stake my claim.
