“Text me,” she whispered, waving as she scurried off. A glare practically burned into the side of my face and I peeked up at Rowan.
I wiggled my fingers at him with a smile while his eyes slitted. He was so suspicious about everything.
“Kit and Camden checked outside for anyothers.” I got the gist. We were cleared on the other werewolf front, which would not be an issue if Evie was telling the truth. “They are waiting at the entrance.” Rowan’s brows furrowed and his inhale was audible. He sneezed and pinched his nose, observing me with his head tilted.
He roughly brushed his hair back. He’d been struggling with it for a while. I reached up to his shoulder and pulled him down. Rowan leaned down, getting to my level.
I wrapped my arms over his head and collected the top half of his smooth strands in my hands into a half ponytail and tied it off.
Pulling back, I nodded to signal I was done, but he buried his nose in my neck.
“You smell odd.” I huffed as he rubbed his smooth human nose against my throat. My eyes widened and I caught the gaze of a woman with her hair cut in a bob watching us with judgment.
I clicked my tongue and gripped his hand, tugging once. He still seemed puzzled but took the lead guiding me out of the airport. The doors slid open to the cool moist air. Camden leaned against the front side of an unknown vehicle, while Kit sat in the driver seat.
“Where’d you get the truck?”
“The guy is scarily organized.” Of course, itwas Kit.
Camden frowned and opened the door for me to slide in. Before I could pull myself up, Rowan wrapped his hands around my waist and easily hoisted me into the seat.
I just let it happen at this point. Rowan climbed in behind me and then we were driving out of the roundabout.
Kit frowned at me from the rearview mirror. All of them kept shooting me glances and rubbing their nose.
“Will, why do you... why is your scent different? I can’t get the full effect of your honey.” Camden inhaled deeply. “It’s dulled.”
It worked.I wanted to bounce in place, but I kept my excitement tempered down.
“This werewolf girl gave me some concoction she made. It’s supposed to hide me as an Omega, so I think it just gets rid of the Omega phermo—”
“You took something a complete stranger gave you in the bathroom?” Camden asked incredulously. He was twisted toward me, his arm braced on the seat as he turned his torso. Kit’s sigh was audible and he rubbed his forehead.
Heat rushed to my face. Okay, that sounded more stupid than it was...
I licked my lips and pouted, crossing my arms.
Whatever. It worked and that was all that mattered, now all we needed to do was get to Camden’s connection.
Willow
“This is wasting time.”I glared at the back of Kit’s head. He pulled the breakfast diner door open and waved me in as the other two shuffled me inside.
Rowan rubbed at his neck. Being in his human formreallywasn’t his favorite.
“You have to eat, Willow,” Camden said, gripping my shoulder. “And how is it a waste of time? The contact can’t meet with us until tomorrow morning.”
Rowan pushed into my side, invading my space.
“Just the four of you?” the middle-aged waitress asked while chewing gum.
“Yes.” At Camden’s words, she shuffled the menus in hand and gestured for us to follow her to a booth.
Rowan got in first and Camden motioned me in next. I slipped onto the pillowy, leather seat. The other side dipped and my eyes widened. Camden was trying to sandwich me in.
I glared and pushed both palms into his arm. He paused and looked at me, red brows pulled tightly together.
“We don’t fit,”I signed. He was going to ignore me. With a huff, I continued, “I want to eat without my elbows being trapped in by you guys. You two aren’t small.”
