They were idiots.

I needed to be with my mate, and they kept arguing back and forth. I was close to tearing throats out, but my mate would not like that.

I grumbled, skin itchy in thisclothing. Uncomfortable shit.

“Why is she at the fucking airport? Where did she fly off to?” Camden hissed as the car turned up a road toward a lot. “Wait until I wrap my fucking hands around her neck.”

I snarled at him.

He turned to glare at me, and I snapped my teeth. No violence toward my mate.

The car screeched to a halt beside a van. Camden’s contact agreed to meet us to get into the cell phone we found. Both said mate ran away because of what she found in there.

“How sure are you he will know how to get into the phone?” Twin asked.

“There is no other option,” Camden responded grimly.

I ground my teeth, fingers flexing to release the building energy.

“If he doesn’t—”

“Stop talking,” I snarled. “Where is mate?”

“We’re trying to figure that shit out!” Camden shoved the door open.

I clicked my teeth at him, snarling, and followed him to the van.

Willow

I hadn’t missedthis place. The Uber driver entered the invisible line marking pack lands. Glinting eyes stared out at me from the woods, but they wouldn’t intercept the car yet.

“Looks pretty abandoned out here.”

I pressed my lips together, nodding tightly. I’d put a note I would not be speaking, so I didn’t feel too bad not trying to communicate with her. Getting a hang of the app to order a driver had been difficult, but the airport fortunately had Wi-Fi I could connect to.

I stayed quiet for another five minutes. If I got any closer, the pack would stop the vehicle, but the coordinates I put in would get her to stop soon. She slowed, turning her head side to side as she took in the surroundings.

“Are you sure this is your drop-off?” she said, eyeing me through the rearview mirror. I nodded and she pulled to the side. It’d been disorienting coming back to the driver being on the left side.

I pulled myself out of the car. She still seemed skeptical but said nothing else as she turned the car around.

I’d purposefully waited for the sun to start setting. This was when Hector was traded out to do the rounds, which I needed. He was the only one I could trust to get me to Torrin without informing him ahead of time.

I waited with my arms behind my back until the car disappeared into the distance. After another beat, I started down the road. It didn’t take long for wolves to circle.

“Willow,” Hector shouted.

I stopped, searching into the rustling forest. A dark shadow detached from the depths and my father rushed toward me. “Where have you been?”

I squeezed my eyelids tightly and hugged him back. I was so thankful for Evie giving me the liquid to block I was Omega.

He tensed and pulled back, hands lightly squeezing my arms.

“You’ve shifted.”

Shock bled through his tone. I knew he had questions and was worried, but I didn’t want to waste time. I was here with a mission and the need to find the one who did me dirty ate at me.

“I need to see the Alpha.”
